Got the call back on Dec. 1, but just joined sdn. Definitely going.
Did any of you guys send a copy of your passport/birth certificate? I didn't have these on my interview date and I know they requested them. It's kind of sketchy just to, fax my passport to the admissions office haha without any confirmation via phone.![]()

Congrats guys!
Anyone interviewing on Friday? I'll be going back there for another tour 🙂
very smart idea MTD
im going to do that as well, so i can finalize my decision bout where i would like to go
did u hear back frm columbia btw?
It says 30 days. Where are you getting that you only have a week to decide? And many people lose money on deposits if they have to put down money on a school before Jan 15th and have other interviews left. If you do HAVE to drop the $1,000 in the end, in the grand scheme of things, it means just about nothing.
My letter was just sent/recvd & deposit is due Feb 1st Monday. That's basically 1 week from when I got it...

I don't see where you're getting that date from. But if that's what your acceptance package says, I guess so.
Packet says deposit is due by Feb 1st.
does anyone know how full is the class so far? estimates?
Gotcha. Well if you're not sure just send it. $1000 absolutely is chump change if you're coming out of school with $200,000 in loans. You have to look at the big picture here.
Within economies of scale, that's like comparing our nation's debt (over $12 trillion) to the Federal Reserve profit margin of $52 billion, and comparatively calling $52 billion chump change. $1000 dollars is still a lot of money, irregardless of the comparative value for average student debt.
Considering that a lot of students (including many of my own classmates) have yet to work a real job before entering dental school, their knowledge (or lackthereof) and expectation of the free market lends them the aura of being wet behind the ears when it comes to money. $1000 bucks is a lot of money, no matter how much debt you have.
No, it's not. $52 billion is a lot of money. It's like comparing $1,000 to $200,000, and it means nothing. It absolutely is a small amount of money in the grand scheme of things. I'm not saying throw it around like it means nothing, and I didn't say to just do it without calling and asking. OBVIOUSLY, you should do that first. But if waiting isn't possible, and in this situation, when it's the rest of your life, and you're not decided yet, and it's less than half a percent of what you're paying to go to school, I think it is worth risking. If you can't see that, you've got some thinking to do.Within economies of scale, that's like comparing our nation's debt (over $12 trillion) to the Federal Reserve profit margin of $52 billion, and comparatively calling $52 billion chump change. $1000 dollars is still a lot of money, irregardless of the comparative value for average student debt.

I'm on the wait-list too. What should I do?

P.S. I said earlier that tomorrow was the last day of interviews, but that may have been incorrect. Tomorrow is the last day of currently scheduled interviews. I guess there might be more coming, but I don't know.
Well your check should be cashed so you can check your online bank statement, took about 1 week for it to clear (deposit and background check $$). For the disciplinary action forms, I called and made sure that they had received them.
got the waitlist letter in the mail. says I could hear as "early" as mid-May, or as late as August. kinda sucks
hi future dentists,
i am clearly not applying to dental school but wanted to ask those of you with access to the my.umdnj.edu portal a question on behalf of someone who does not yet have access to it:
with news of gov. christie cutting funding for umdnj i was trying to figure out if all of the umdnj schools will be having a tuition spike for 2010-2011....the CoA for UMDNJ-SOM (I got this off of the financial aid tab under the portal) looks like this:
Budget Detail
Budget Component Amount
Books & Supplies $10,000.00
Personal $5,000.00
Room & Board $25,000.00
Tuition & Fees $35,000.00
Transportation $5,000.00
Total: $80,000.00
it appears that the tuition will be around a $10k increase from last year....can any pre-dents with access to the portal share what their CoA looks like/ estimate how much in-state tuition will increase for the njds students?
thanks so much!

Sorry if i posted in wrong section but this seemed the only place where most Rutgers and NJ students were.
First off, Congratz on the admission.
Ok, i'm going to do my undergrad at Rutgers School of Engineering and hope to apply to dental schools with a focus more on UMDNJ. I was wondering if i can get tips on things you guys did. I already talked to a ER Physician who said he is going to ask his friend(Dentist) if i can shadow him. Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks
1. kick the DATs ass (20+)
2. >3.0 GPA
3. Shadow some docs maybe do some dental assisting
It's very simple 😉
