For those of us who have already interviewed at NYU, when do we hear about the first round of decisions? Someone told me that we would hear early to mid December, but nobody has reported an acceptance online yet.

There was a thread posted about this a couple of days ago, but let me do my best to summarize:

According to the letter the adcom gave us, yup, we're supposed to hear in "mid-December." But that's, um, passed.

So now there's a rumor that we'll hear "before the Holidays!" - which really might just be wishful thinking.

Then someone posted a couple days ago saying that because this is the first year NYU switched over to AMCAS things are really backlogged - and we probably won't hear until after New Year's.

Then someone else posted and said that it's silly that we're all waiting because only like 5 people will be accepted this early anyway - and that the bulk of the class will be accepted in January and later.

So I don't know what to believe...

...and I guess this post was utterly pointless. Fun, but pointless.

Come on NYU! Tell us!

when i interviewed there, they were saying "before christmas." 12/24 if i remember correctly.

Waiting for possible cornell/NYU acceptances has made me an O/C e-mail checker. I'm thinking about getting a blackberry. Just because I want to know the exact moment my (hypothetical) first acceptance comes in 🙂

I emailed my interviewer this week to ask when acceptances would be going out. He replied that it should be soon, and then more in February. Then, today, I got an email saying my acceptance letter is in the mail (no email from the office of admissions yet)!

I will certainly let you guys know when anything arrives, except that I am in Canada, so with the holidays it could take forever! I am sure more SDNers will hear the good news soon 😀

Sounds like it's snail mail...and maybe a follow-up email? If the acceptances were mailed out on Wednesday (like Treg's), then the earliest they'd arrive would be tomorrow - but with the holiday season, maybe Monday?

They should just email their decisions out. Actually, I just remembered I read a post saying that they did email a decision out - and in the subject line it read "CONGRATULATIONS" and basically looked like spam. So, now I think they do both.

I don't know. I'm tired.

I just returned from vacation to find an acceptance letter from NYU 🙂 that was dated 12/20 but I didn't receive any email notification so I am assuming they did send letters out and the email is not a definite notification. Seeing how early my letter was dated, I'm surprsed that not a lot of other NYU acceptances have been posted.

Congrats! Damnit, I think I'm gonna have to run to the mailbox now . . . I have a feeling I'm only opening myself up to disappointment. Oh well, I don't have much else to do being buried under all this frickin' snow.

Where do you live? I'm in NJ and I should have prolly gotten the letter already if I did get accepted. Oh well...here's to Feb/March!

I just got back from my holidays, and my NYU letter, dated 12/22, had arrived 🙂 (Just in case anyone was wondering if my interviewer's email was legit).

I got an NYU acceptance in early January, but it was dated Dec 22nd.
I think the postal service conspired to keep me in suspense through the New Year. I'm incredibly happy to get it regardless...

Anybody know what (if any) the housing situation at NYU is for married students? I tried doing some searches but didn't get very clear answers.

Thrilled to get it, but called today just to make sure they didn't rescind the offer since it's now past the two weeks deadline to respond! Maybe some more are making it through the mail system and will show up for those of you still waiting. Good luck everyone!

when did you interview? I think it's too early for Dec interviewees but I'm not at my apartment to receive any mail and I won't be back for a couple weeks. and i thought we had until May to accept most spots at med schools....

I interviewed the first week of November. I'm not sure when the cutoff was for the first group they sent letters out for. As for acceptances, the note I got was that you had to send in a written acceptance of the offer plus a check for them to hold your place within two weeks. (You can withdraw and get a refund until April (or May?) I think.)
