I'm still wading in the Acceptable Pool at UCSD. Everyone pray for me. I really don't want to have to use my backup plan but I have to start at the end of July so let's hope I get an A from UCSD...Anyone heard lately from the Acceptable Pool at UCSD besdies BjorknRadiohead? I've done EVERYTHING i can do to show that SD is my number one choice (Wrote LOI to everyone including the Dean, Director of Admissions, and both of my interviewers; been calling constantly to check on my status, etc.) Any more suggestions?

I was thinking about emailing the dean of my top choice even though I sent an LOI and have called them to check up on my "status". Did you basically write the same thing to everyone or did you send multiple copies of the same exact letter?

How is this possible.

They still have a category of 'hold' applicants on which decisions will be made early June. How are they already pulling from the waitlist ??

I just sent a copy of the same letter to everyone. I had sent an update letter in February and decided to end a LOI to everyone to let them know I'm still interested. I didn't want to hassle the dean by emailing him but as another week passes and I get no word...I'm seriously considering doing that. I have also called to inquire about my file but the admissions office is very tight-lipped about the process. I was even told 2 days ago that there has been no movement on the waitlist/acceptable pool even though i know from reading here that people have gotten into UCSD already off of these lists. So i don't know what's up with this but I'm all about doing what I can to let them know I love their school and I WANT IN! :laugh:

Does any one really know how much Harvard's waitlist moves? In their letter it said that they normally have 45 - 60% students in tehir class from the waiting list but from what I read here it seems like they barely have any movement. Any one have a friend who got into Harvard from the waiting list?

I have a friend who got in last year off the waitlist. I have no clue whether this is common or not though.

When your on the waitlist do schools just leave you hanging in terms of correspondence or do they let you know from month to month what your status is or do they let you know when the class is full or whats the deal cause the main question that everyone on the waitlists has is "When am I gonna hear something?!" - some of us need closure (or at least updates)!

for the most part i think they leave you hanging...until school has started, then send out rejections..that has been my experience at least.....
you're looking for closure with USC? you should call them and ask them...or email Dr. Quinn and ask....

Some schools don't ever give closure.
You'll know you were rejected ony because classes started at that school!

Last year at least one person got off the Cornell waitlist in mid-July.

Oh, I'm not going to bail on Cornell, I actually told them August 23rd would work just fine for me, but I'm thinking if you call schools past June they must have some idea of whether or not you still have some chance.
 
I called Wayne State today and was told that they have already accepted 20 people from their wait list.

I'm dumb in the ways of SDN. For all the people above who are going to give up on Cornell (and specifically Cornell), don't!!!! I know for a fact that a few people got in last year in late-July/early August! Don't give up!!!!!!

Eraserhead: boy do you deserve it, man! (or are you a girl? how does one tell on SDN)....
 
I can't believe the Drexel waitlist hasn't moved yet! I called the admin office and they said the list hasn't been ranked. Isn't a huge chunk of the class accepted from the waitlist? Also, I heard that they're reducing the class size by 25 people, so I guess that cuts down our chances. Hurry the hell up people!

Stickies are threads that stay at the very top of the list of threads regardless of the last post. Look at the first page of Pre-Allo forums, you'll see STICKY: FAQ... That thread is always at the top. Only the moderators can make a thread sticky.
