Well, there are threads out for many of the other non-rolling schools, so I thought that I would start one for Yale... who else is anxiously awaiting to hear from them? Who else would give a limb and/or their first born to live in New Haven for four years? Post your anxiety here!! 😀 😀

Why o why did you start this thread? 😉

The wait has been unbearable!

Oh Yale how I love thee ...

Anyone have any inside info on when decisions are being mailed out? They said at the interview that they would be mailed by the end of March - I hope it's before then. I'm not sure I can wait that long!!

AHHH! :scared:

Good luck everyone!

Yale seems to enjoy keeping us on the tip of our seats. Not that I really care, though. I've already been accepted to more superior and prestigious institutions.

Decisions should be sent out in about 3 or 4 weeks.

Hey all!

I interviewed at Yale on 2/20 and was told that their target date for sending out decisions would be March 23rd. We have a bit over three weeks before we hear. I was absolutely impressed with Yale Med. The students are so close and supportive of each other. I love the boundless opportunities for international research and clinical rotations. Their MPH in International Health is awesome. If the pool of interviewees I met is any indication of what the incoming class will be like, it will be sooooooo phenomenal. Good luck everyone! 🙂

Sweet school, love it.

This is going to be a REALLY long countdown though since we are targeting the end of March and starting a thread in Feb.

That's ok - it's nice to have company during this period of anxious anticipation. 🙂

Definetely nice to have the company!! I am sooo freaking nervous. I also keep getting mad at myself for not applying to more schools - i'm worried that i'll only have a few choices (I already withdrew from most of my schools...). What do you guys think are the chances of being rejected from Cornell, Yale, AND Penn post-interview? Do you think that there's a decent chance of getting ONE acceptance out of those?? So nervous.... 🙁 🙁

Hey quideam-

Stay positive! Anything can happen - I'm sure if you interviewed at all those places that you have a good shot of getting into at least one of them. Good things come to those who wait - that's what my mom told me after I got my Columbia rejection this past weekend. (I have no acceptances yet). We've just gotta stay positive and anxiously twiddle our thumbs. 😀

First of all, last year, everyone got an email - acceptances, waitlists and rejections. I got the waitlist. I just don't want people to start jumping for joy when you see an email from Yale - read it first.

Second, quideam, while you probably have a pretty good chance of getting accepted, it's not 100%. I interviewed at Baylor, Stanford, Penn and Yale last year, got waitlisted at them ALL, then got into none. While everyone I spoke to at each school said that was pretty unusual (and no one could tell me why I wasn't accepted), it just goes to show you that it can happen, and the game's not over until you have the accpetance letter in your hand, no matter how many interviews you've had.

Put my name on this list...

YSM... oh man... I want it so badly I dream about using their gym 😀

The only thing I really dislike about it is their nonchalant disreguard for the March 15(an oh so critical part of the applicant stress reduction initiative). I want a day, hour, minute, second estimate... I want a webpage with a countdown... a system that changes a status page, emails and sends an IM at the moment of truth...

(and I told myself that I wasn't going to go all OCD like the other sdn applicants... should have waited till March before saying that)

Thanks Ms. a! I'm sorry about the outcome of your apps last year... 4 waitlists at your top choices definetely sucks 🙁. I'm just so nervous - I keep telling myself that i'm likely to get into one of them, but on the other hand, I really don't want to get my hopes up and then be really disappointed. This wait is driving me absolutely nuts... 🙁... I can't concentrate on anything lately! I think I need a nice massage 🙂

Elizabeth1028 - I'm sorry to hear about Columbia 🙁. Did you have an interview there? It really sucks... but there's always hope for Yale (crossing fingers for everyone!!!!), and whichever other schools you're waiting to hear from. Good luck!!!! 😍

Yup, I interviewed at Columbia. The interview didn't go very well though, and I didn't feel like Columbia was a good match for me at all. The rejection still stung nevertheless.

My Yale interviews went really well, and I absolutely loved the school, so I'm hoping maybe I have a shot?? Yale is a really good match for my personality and I'm interests, and I'm hoping they realize that! 😍

Anyways, good luck to all!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of us too! 🙂

right so I can't type - I meant MY interests 😛

i recommend HEAVY doses of that which is in your avatar... really, a few drinks will make some of that stress go bye-bye.

unfortunately yale accepts less than 1 outta 5 interviewees... which makes sense - not too many are gonna turn down yale. hopefully at least a few of us will get in.

It's likely that the acceptance emails will go out on the 19th or the 20th, with the waitlist ones following a day or two later.
But don't hold me to it, and you certainly didn't hear it from me... 😀

Good luck everyone, it would be awesome to have you here.

Premature Bump!!! Keeping hope/anxiety alive!! 😉

to clarify about yale's emails: only acceptances and waitlists got an email last year. I know three people who got the former, two who got the latter, and as for myself - no email, but a nice rejection letter in the mail about a week later.

Then Yale could be like Penn and make half the posters on this thread anxious about decision day because of a system "accident."

Oh geez, I don't think I could handle any more anxiety! :scared:

Of course, if the page said they accepted any of us then there is no way it would be a mistake! 🙂

So any informed consensus? Emails/no emails? Good news emails?

Well, I guess I can join this thread even though I haven't interviewed yet, I interview in mid March. The last interview date.

Yale used to be my #1 dream school, but now living in NYC is looking really attractive to me.

So apparently Yale rejects about 85% of those they interview... *sigh*... that doesn't make me very optimistic 🙁.... okay, off to bed and more dreams of waitlists... 🙂

How does the jeer go; "you might win, but you have to go back to New Haven?"

Columbia's not *really* in NYC anyway =)

Just called Yale - they said that we will definetely get the letters "by the end of March, but possibly sooner". The woman I spoke to said that the admissions committee will be meeting again next week, and that after that they are going to start working on sending out letters.

More waiting!

yup quideam, thanks for calling. I was thinking about calling myself, but now I don't have to. It seems like every place is taking so much longer to make decisions than they said they would. *sigh* I'm so tired of waiting.

+pissed+

anxious bump :scared:

I'm going crazy now ... I can't even imagine how I'm going to be in 2 weeks!

Why does this process take so long with poor Yale. Sweet place, no doubt.

The *real* NYC is Times Square!!! Olive garden, virgin megastore, disney stuffed animals - all authentic NYC livin'

bump ... I guess we'll be hearing in a little over a week. Anyone else going as crazy as I am? 😕 :scared:

Did anyone get a definite date as to when the decisions will come out? As aforementioned, I was told March 23rd as a target date. Will the decisions definitely be sent by e-mails and then be followed by snail mail? I am waiting anxiously! Someone had mentioned that the decisions might be sent March 19th or so. I was really impressed by Yale, especially its students and anatomy labs (vents are awesome). Good luck everyone! I hope this will be my first acceptance. I hate waitlists! 🙁

conspiracy theory: artificially boost their selectivity. i.e. doing it later might encourage some applicants to withdraw after getting into one of the other non-rolling schools (i.e. harvard, columbia, penn, etc). this will enable them to have a lower acceptance rate.

I'm not sure about a definite date ... I am thinking about calling the admissions office tomorrow if I have a free moment. I'm in the same boat as you, DrJ2B, no acceptances yet. I'm hoping I'll hear good news from somewhere soon - I'm getting really anxious about the whole process. I really love Yale and I'm pretty sure it's my top choice. I'm praying for good news! Anyways, best of luck with everything. I'm rooting for us both! 🙂

I'd wager I'm going close to as crazy as anyone here... 🙂

Aside: Newquagmire - "mid-march madness" - right on

Dude, I really feel for you. I didn't get into my first choice: Harvard, but I really feel for your situation man. Good luck with it all.

You like the "vents" in the anatomy lab? You mean the holes in the room to let that smell out? I never realized how important the ventiliation system was when considering a medical school...am I missing something?

CCW

Yale has an awesome anatomy lab - everything's high-tech and there are vents right under each cadaver that suck out air so that it barely smells in there.

Could somebody please remind me why "more waiting" deserves either an exclamation point OR clapping?

I can ask tomorrow, as I will be at the campus.

so i just called and was told that decisions from the committe are now coming in this week on a "rolling basis".....and letters should be prepared to be sent out towards the end of this month. I could not get a specific date from the staff. I guess they are tired of paranoid premeds harassing them all the time!!! 🙂 good luck everyone...i really wish yale would let us know this week...i am going out to CA later this week for business and was planning on looking for housing while i was out there (for stanford)....but don't wanna commit until i hear back from yale.

loomis

Thanks for the info, Loomis. Did they say anything about whether they'll email or not?

Hope you hear before you start apartment-hunting too intensely..

I think there was some high school movie that came out lately called The Perfect Score that described a group of students stealing the SAT answers. Anyone up for stealing the perfect school response? I'm not talking about changing their responses, but I think a little covert ops would save at least 72 hours of envelope licking and mail carriage.
