I'm with you on this one...making me hungry...it's not fair that I will have to subject my self to these places- more than likely by accident because I haven't had the Columbus experience, and won't know where not to go. I suppose I will need a list of DO NOT EAT HERE's or DO NOT GO THEREs.....but I DO know that Johnny Rockets is one of my fav's.

and EllieGirl as far as not being as funny in person as you are on SDN, I can empathize with that...I too can be slow with witty comebacks and usually think of these things 20...30 minutes after the fact....so don't feel alone

Y'all just put me on speed dial, and then roll EllieG (in her bubble) across the river to the medical school. I'll put her back together again. Nuthin' a little superglue and duct tape can't cure.
 
Well guys, looks like I am one major step closer to going to Ohio...Davis just rejected me (my IS).

I have an interview at Illinois this Monday, haven't heard from Wisconsin (it is unlikely anything will come from that), then that's it for me.

As much as I want you to come to Ohio, I know you were really hoping to stay in CA. I'm really sorry about this news.

If it gets you too down, just think about ugly sweater parties and my bubble and hopefully that will cheer you up some.

Let me just tell you all a little story about how freakin' excited I am about going to OSU....for the past 9 years I've been a little bit of a Bobcat Snob. I went to Ohio University for my undergrad and L-O-V-E-D, loved it! After graduation I moved to Columbus and was so homesick for my beloved Athens that I swore to detest all things OSU. Whenever anyone asked where I went to school and I said OU, they'd usually reply with "Go Buckeyes!" I would defiantly state "I AM NOT A BUCKEYE! I AM A BOBCAT!!" Once I began my vet school quest, I still stood firmly against "jumping on the bandwagon" and decided I would only wear OSU apparel if it had Vet Med on it and that I simply just wasn't going to be a Buckeye....that is, until I got in. I went shopping today and saw racks of OSU apparel. In the past, I would have just walked by it, but today, I simply couldn't contain my excitement!! I grabbed armfuls of shirts, hoodies, shorts, pants, etc. I was so proud and freaking ecstatic to be joining the OSU brotherhood!! I realized that is possible to be one who bleeds Scarlet and Gray without sacrificing one's inner Bobcat. Let the love affair commence!😍

I know that OSU is knocking out some old AV stuff in the back of each lecture hall and adding some rows to accommodate the larger class size, but does anyone know what's going to happen as far as the histo and anatomy labs?😕

new laptops are my favorite!...i feel the NEED for a new macbook and a WANT for an iPad 2 😀

I'm debating whether to get a new laptop. Mine is almost 3 years old but it still works perfectly and I have enough storage. Do a lot of veterinary students use smart pens? I looked at them online and they look amazing! Are we allowed to record our lectures? Do the smart pens actually work well in a large lecture hall?

I don't know whether vet students use them but I have one and it works great in large lecture halls.

Your only real needs of a computer at OSU are for reviewing power points, taking online quizzes, and writing the occasional paper. So really anything made in the last 6 years will be just fine. I upgraded to a netbook last year from a 7 year old laptop just to get something a little more portable as the 7 year old laptop was still plenty capable of doing everything.

At school you will buy note packs for each of your classes. During lecture essentially everyone just takes notes directly on them. I've never owned a smart pen, but I believe most need special paper which makes them pretty useless in the vet school setting.

A good number of people bring normal voice recorders to class.

Jeez, guys, you're making me cry. It's nice to be missed!

The pre-vet forum is awesome. I avoid the pre-med forum like the plague. They're weird. They won't even reveal what school they're at, and there's no thread of successful applicant stats. Heaven forbid, they should admit what they got on the MCAT. The non-trad forum is usually the only one I look at. The old pre-meds are a lot nicer!

I still wake up some days and wonder if I really want to walk away from vet school. Scares the bejeezus outa me! And the OSU class of 2015 is going to ROCK! I know I'd have a blast with y'all.

Unfortunately, I just failed my physics exam. If that trend continues, I won't be going to ANY professional school. I'm scared to death I'm going to end up managing a McDonald's somewhere. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It just isn't what I envisioned for myself, y'know? 😳

If anybody has some advice on what to do about Physics, I'm all ears. I wish I had the money to hire a tutor. Wish they took credit cards! 😛

I totally share in this feeling. I'm the only pre-vet my year and the pre-meds are fun to go out with, but that's really it (jk One of my super awesome friends here is a junior pre-med & she's down to earth). But, your normal run of the mill pre-meds, this emoction says it best:troll: :laugh: But, I digress!

The worst part is having no more prep (besides furniture shopping... which I really can't do until I know which floor plan out of 3 wait-lists I'm getting D8)... I'm going NUTS!

Haha, me too! I just moved to a new apartment in Columbus two weeks ago and now that I'm pretty much done unpacking and decorating, I'm bored out of my mind. At least you have classes, right? That's will be a slight distraction until May or June...maybe? 😛

If you (or anyone on this thread) are in/going to be in Columbus and also "losing [his/her] bleedin' mind," I'd love to go out and do something. I'm trying to get to know the area/city/people before school starts since I neglected to do so during my Master's program last year. 🙁

(sorry, still lurking here even though my decline of the offer is in the mail... you guys are entertaining to follow😳)

E-mail me! I majored in physics and have a MS in physical chemistry which is a whole lot of (albeit quantum) physics... I will tutor for a slice of pizza😀. My car has crapped out on me, but assuming I can get it fixed this week I should be mobile once again shortly.

You too? lol... then again, my cohort was extremely drama-filled and it seemed like everyone chose sides as to who to hang out with.... = awkward. Plus I was busting my arse to prove myself to the Adcom..... think it paid off 🙂

I'm looking to come down to C-bus more and more as time gets closer to September.... I'll let you know what weekends I'll be down there (I'm usually down about 1 weekend a month....) and maybe we can schedule for anybody that's down there to get together....

206 days! (I <3 the countdown app on my phone.... people I work with have seen it and are like "what is that for??".... oh nothing.... 🙄)
 
Man, I wish I had family in Cbus. I probably won't be down till August (hoping to move in around Aug 1). I feel as though I will be missing some epic SDN meetups.

I'm actually losing my bleedin mind because I'm so dang busy, but I'm definitely here =) Typically the best times for me are in the later parts of the week, like Thursday or Friday. Shoot me a PM if you want to play sometime. I can't for the life of me find my ID, so we can't do anything too crazy, but I'm definitely down for lunch sometime!
 
Does anyone know if the waitlist has moved at all? I called and asked but they told me not to bother until April. Just wondering what other people had heard!
 
I don't think so. I think they have to assume that everyone who's been offered a spot will accept, so they can't start moving it until April 15 🙁

I liked my cohort but I was so scared of messing up my graduate grades for vet school that I stayed in too much. Scheduling a monthly group activity sounds awesome! I love your countdown...206 days actually doesn't sound that far away when compared to 6-7 months! 😀

I think OSU overaccepts too because they know that some people will decline their offer so they have to wait until April 15th to get an accurate count of who is attending and how many they can call off the waitlist.

I interviewed on the 15th, but my interview was at 3:15! I was however talking to a bunch of people from the morning interviews during our lunch break! What about you?
