Ohio State is the largest university in the country, and with that comes a myriad of opportunities that just aren't available at other schools. We are also a very big research institution and you can pursue research in pretty much any area (if someone is not doing research in your area they will help you find a mentor in another area of the school, such as the school of medicine). The academic building, which you would be spending a great deal of time in, is fairly new and in great condition. We have fantastic faculty that really want to help the students. We have a very strong program that is regarded well nationally. I absolutely love it here, and there is so much to do around the Columbus are and in the university area.
As for exotics, at my interview I mentioned I was interested in zoo/wildlife (because at the time I was). Though OSU is not really strong in that area, I was told they will do everything they can to get you experience in that area. Generally if you want to go into something specific like that, that experience will need to be garnered after completing your DVM in a residency.
