If it helps she told us during our interviews that they would finish everything up by the end of January. I'm guessing they will just be sending out the acceptance letters the same time as the rejection and waitlist letters, which will be 1-2 weeks.

To those who have already been accepted, no need to worry about the letter (it will come...I'm sure they're very busy)...you're already in!!

Congrats! 🙂

is so ohio finishing up their interviews by the end of the month? no interview invite as of now = rejection? 🙁

This week is the last week of interviews (you would've heard by now). They said the only way they were doing interviews after this week was if someone was out of the country or something during those time periods. 🙁 I'm sorry.

Don't lose hope bunnies, there are other schools too 🙂

Is there anyone else out there who interviewed at OSU already but didn't get an immediate acceptance? I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one. 🙁

I didn't either 🙁 and I am very sad because they told me the interview was great.

I wouldn't worry too much just yet. I get the feeling that SDN represents a high proportion of over-achievers. I can't speak for everyone, but I didn't see anyone else get an "immediate acceptance" on my interview day. Also, they said in orientation that people who are definitely not getting in they let know just as soon as they do people who get in. Remember, no news is good news. Don't be discouraged!

I was starting to feel like I was the only one too who didn't get an immediate acceptance. I interviewed on 12/19 and haven't heard anything. I keep trying to remind myself that they said at the info session that they wouldn't notify the middle 80% of people for a while.

Skillet,
If I am correct, you interview on 12/16, as well as David and myself, and we were all accepted relatively quickly. It kind of makes me laugh because we were all sitting in the same group talking for about 3 1/2 hours.

Wait, which one were you? You weren't the lurker from North Carolina were you?

Scratch that, just realized you said your name was brandon. The one who was sitting next to the North Carolina kid working for the 5 doctor mixed practice right?

I interviewed 1/7 and I'm pretty sure I remember them saying they would be getting back to us within about 2 weeks. Anyone else who interviewed this week hear anything like that?

I just got back from my Ohio week and I absolutely loved it!! My interview was 1/7 (wednesday) and the entire day was great. The interview went 100 times better than I would ever have suspected and I shockingly felt like I had some good answers to quentions that would have ordinarily made for some awkward silence. Both of my interviewers made me feel very comfortable.

Anyways, now the waiting begins. I def. think it has moved to the top of my list, or at least top three, so I am desperate to hear from them!!! I keep checking my status page to see if anything changes and I am insanely checking on my phone hoping for one of those early calls!!!! :luck: :xf:

Any advice on how to calm myself would be appreciated!!

Yeah, I knew there were a few pretty quick acceptances, but I didn't see anyone accepted downstairs right after their interview ended...that's what I meant by immediate. Not saying it didn't happen; I just didn't see it. And it is a little strange to have met in real life...there were a few other SDNers there that day too!

Tpad, I don't think that I can offer any advice on how to calm down, except to let time pass. I imagine that people were way sick of hearing about OSU from me for a little while after my interview. Now I'm pretty much back to normal...business as usual for the first week of classes (except it is hard to motivate myself to get anything above a passing grade!).

David,
Ya I was the big guy that worked for the 8 doctor Large/Small animal clinic in state (Ohio). Have you heard anything from any other Vet schools?

Yeah, I interviewed on the 9th, and am going to be a mess until I hear something. They are tied with Davis for my top pick :scared: They told us that they will have all of their decisions made by the end of the month, and some people will hear sooner.

My interview seemed to go pretty well, but who knows? 450 interviews for 140 spots. I wish I knew how many OOS people they interviewed.

450 interviews for 140 spots. I wish I knew how many OOS people they interviewed.

Does anyone know the exact breakdown of how many were interviewed for IS vs. OOS? Were there really ~450 interviews!?

I interviewed on the 9th as well, and I do remember Dr. Sanders saying in our orientation that they interview roughly 450 applicants. Kind of disheartening, isn't it?

I also want to know how many of those were out of state.

Someone actually asked that the day that I interviewed. She said over half of the people they interviewed were OOS. I remember her saying that it seemed like everyone she interviewed was OOS. :scared:

So her approximation was over 200 OOSers interviewed for 40 spots. She also said they had already accepted 58 people before the last week of interviews even started. 🙁

I originally thought I did really well in my interview, but as the days are passing I'm finding more and more things that I shouldn't have said, or could've said something better. I just want to know already so I can stop wondering!

At least tomorrow is Monday. There's POTENTIAL to hear something! :xf:

I wanted to add that the 450 people they interviewed comprised about half of the applicants. So we all at least made in into the top half. I think that's something to be proud of!

Okay, so at least now we know that of the 100% interviewed applicants, <50% were IS and >50% were OOS.

There were a lot of OOS people when I interviewed. I'm an IS applicant that only met 2 other people that were IS...everyone else I talked to was OOS.

Haha, I have the same feeling!

I just want to know already so I can stop wondering!

Again, ditto! Good luck to us all!! :luck::xf:

Awww, that makes me feel a little discouraged. : (

Do you guys know what the breakdown of those 58 people were in terms of OOS and IS students?

Beanjamime, I don't think anyone outside of admissions knows the breakdown of the 58 who have been accepted. If you look at the 2013 acceptance thread, that will give you a glimpse of the breakdown here on SDN.

To everyone: think about it. 58 have been accepted...82 spots remain open! As we all know, they usually over-accept as they know some people will decline, so there are more than 82 spots that need to be filled!

Bcrunner, I really didn't get the impression they overaccept. It seemed they emphasize that once we decide we should let them know right away so they can notify others. That they only accept additional people as students decline and the seats are freed up.

Her approximation was over 200 OOSers interviewed for 40 spots.

I can't speak to the process at OSU but a pattern of 100 OOS interviews per 20 seats appears to be a common formula with many vet schools. At Missouri this weekend they interviewed approximately 100 for 20 seats and indicated they would slot 30 based on the interviews. With so many of these same folks interviewing at multiple schools, it leads to many schools going deep into their interview pool to get all spots filled, and in some cases, exhausting it.

But Missouri is unique in that they openly promote a process to gain residency and many of the current OOS vet students acknowledged they were accepted at other schools across the country but came there based on this option.

From what I can remember Dr. Sanders saying, she said that 140 students would be accepted. If one of those students decline, they would move down the waitlist and offer a spot to the person that is next in line.

I guess I stand doubly corrected! But the same premise remains true: more than 140 people will, at some point, be accepted.

I interviewed 1/6 and hadn't heard anything yet. I am so anxious as this is my number 1 choice. Oh the stress!!

I haven't heard of anyone that got accepted immediately after their interview this last week (at least not anyone on SDN). That's the only thing keeping my hopes up right now!!!

Bcrunner1313, at some point, yes they will have accepted more than 140 students due to declined offers. But i'm sure you probably figured that out already.

Lol...yep, pretty much what I said in my last post. 😉

I did too!!!! I just got a call offering me a seat!!!! I starting screaming and the girl on the phone laughed at me!!!

Best. Moment. Ever.

lol @ karmapple and jjohnston...karmapple, I probably would have done the same! CONGRATS to you both!

Congrats everyone!!! I def. had the same exact reaction. Has ANYONE gotten paper on this yet? I'm worried that my reaction reversed the decision...i'm being irrational

Congratulations you guys!!!! I'm so happy for all of you!!! 😀

Congrats everyone!!! I just hope I get a call soon!

We can hope together. 🙂

Me too!!

Congrats everyone...I am obsessing with my phone right now 🙂

Me toooooo. I see that everyone accepted today interviewed on 1/9 so far. I'm going to get even more nervous when I see someone accepted from my interview date!

Lol...that's how I've justified it as well. I'm 1/7 so until I see that date pop up I'm trying not to full-out freak out! :scared:

:luck::xf::luck::xf::luck::xf::luck::xf:

man...i interviewed on 1/6..was that a bad luck day b/c I haven't seen anyone yet, and that is also freaking me out. I am a nervous wreck!

I interviewed 1/5. My guess is the date has nothing to do with it, and it's just coincidence. But maybe not! :xf:

i am going absolutely nutssss. do you think the school is giving out the rest of their acceptances today?

They aren't - don't worry.
