Ohsu '07

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also, if you don't have the link in front of you, I've been going to www.ohsu.edu/som, then clicking on "Admissions" (not "MD Admissions").

And as for the wait, I was looking on last year's "Any news from OHSU?" thread, and first they took up to #22, then about a week later they took to #25 (so that's where we're at), then about a week later they took up to #46 (I think, or something close to that). So I'm guessing since we just got our letters mid to late end of last week, they're probably still processing our please-do-keep-us-on-your-waitlist responses. So hopefully we should see some movement by the middle of next week.

Good luck all!

This is exactly what I was wondering but couldn't find. I thought that the list would jump substantially after the June 15 letter; its nice to see this is the case. I'll give it two weeks before I withdrawl my other acceptances.

Via snail mail, received this morning.

After all this dragging out, I expected it to be kinda anticlimactic, but... all the same, there is still a mixture of thankfulness, profound relief, and w00ty w00tfulness that emoticons can't express.

Not that I won't try. Here goes:

Best of luck to everybody else on the wait list!

Word to that. Hard to believe I got my letter TEN MONTHS after I first submitted my secondary to OHSU.

For those of you who for some reason are checking SDN before OHSU's webpage, they're up to #32!

Congratulations to those of you who just got in, and let's hope for some more movement 🙂

I'm #36. I just got in. Wow. Let's keep the list rolling! :luck:

Hey everyone,

I'd like to apologize for the admissions process at my medical school. I have no clue why it is so slow, and seemingly screwed up, year after year. A couple weeks after you get here, they will ask for your comments regarding this process. You can be certain that we told them about the problems last year. Please tell them again! Not withstanding the frustrations of this process, OHSU is a very wonderful place to go to medical school.

For what it is worth, two years ago OHSU went to number 96 on the alternate list. Last year they got to number 100 on the alternate list, though she (#100) decided medical school wasn't for her and quit... Obviously things change from year to year, but if you have a number less than 90, your chances are pretty good. I think OHSU goes so deep into the alternate pool largely because of their high out of state tuition. Whatever the reason, it is good news for people on the alternate list, so hang in there!

Good luck to all of you. Hopefully I will see you at your orientation in August.

Thanks for the info about how many people OHSU has taken from alternate lists in the past! I'm currently on the alternate list and starting to feel hopeful again.

The alternate list jumped to #39 today.

Does anyone know which comes first: the web page update or the acceptance letter?

Good luck to all!

The alternate list jumped to #48 today. (This is especially exciting as I am #48 - have not yet received the letter.)

Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for the news about OHSU going to #48. I checked it this morning and it still said #39. Time to update the signature and drink some beers!:laugh: Good luck my alternates in waiting!!

So could any of those who are lower on the list tell when they recieved a letter in relation to the website update? I'd like a hard copy before I withdraw my other apps and get my HPSP scholarship all lined up...

I received my letter a day after the list updated, and I'm instate. Hope this helps! Oh, but FYI, the acceptance packet came 2 weeks later, and I've been jumping through hoops to get a letter from my undergraduate institution on my behalf saying I did, indeed, complete the English Composition requirement. I already withdrew from everywhere else, so it's been a bit stressful, considering if I couldn't get the letter I may not have been able to matriculate...but it's looking like it's going to work out. Anyhow, be sure you've met all their requirements. That's my 2 cents. Good luck all!

Today is 07-07-07. I got my acceptance letter and slightly larger letter with background check, transcript requests, etc. I was worried the first one got lost in the mail or something. Time to dole out some more money...at least there isn't a seat deposit or any of that noise.

Talk about last minute. Congrats!
