u got the letter about the first cut right? I think that they might take a month or two from that point on. That's my guess.

Yes, I got the i:/competitive letter.

I've been looking at last year's thread and it seems that people got their interview invites within a week from receiving that letter.

honestly, idk how it is gonna go for me.
I have lower GPA than their average but higher DAT.

dice is cast so let's seee what happens! 🙂

I received the competitive letter also. Hopefully the next mail out is soon. I'm beginning to check my mailbox as much as my email now.
 
Mark said that the committee was meeting. However, there were a few new members so they needed some times to read all the applications. They will start sending out invitation Monday 10.24 or latest is the following Monday
 
Looks like its gonna be next week then.

From last years thread, it looks like they interviewed people a week before December, then notified those people a week after regarding their acceptances. I guess that's pretty nice! We won't have to wait too long to find out.

Today 10.27 was the first round of interview, my friend who is 1st yr student said. By the way, I just got an invitation from OHSU 🙂))) via email 🙂))) at 11:50pm🙂)))) xoxoxo🙂)))))
 
I also received an email invite around 11:45PM last night. Scheduled an interview for this Tuesday!

Strange, the competitive letter states "You will be notified in writing should you be selected as an interview candidate." 😎

I'm in-state. Thanks so much! I couldn't be happier. The email said that a letter is being sent about the interview today. I called and scheduled the interview this morning. Why would I need more time to prep?

Really surprised to hear so early. Last year, it seems like in-state applicants didn't hear until Feb/March. Feeling very grateful!

That's great news, I'm in-state as well. they started so late last year. Hopefully I'll get another one this year. Looks really promising for you since you're one of the first. Good Luck!
 
congratulations to all you with interviews there, that's awesome! I'm in-state as well and I received the "competitive" letter a few weeks ago...any idea as to how many people that receive that letter actually get an interview?

Good luck everyone!! I know what it's like to be in your shoes. OHSU is seriously a great institution to get a dental education. It's one of the best clinical schools in the west coast, if not the whole nation...but yeah, the facility might not be like midwestern or uop; however, our faculty is top-notch! anyway, we're getting a new building soon and our staff is really on top of it...
 
Did anyone OOS get an interview? If so when and by email/mail?

There's a NM resident on PreDents with an interview. Looks valid. I imagine it was email notification since even the locals haven't received paper in the mail yet.

What is the deal with OHSU? It seems like a small handful of interviews were done and then silence.... anyone hear anything further? Who out there is an IS who got the competitive letter with no interview invite yet?
 
I think I fit into that category alright, that is, in state with no interview yet but got the competitive letter. I talked to Mark on Monday and he said that they had invited about 30 people to interview so far. All I can say is, the sooner I hear from them the happier I will be.

I'm not worried just yet, as the numbers on predents for this cycle (number of interviewed from applied (percentages as well)) are still pretty low compared to the previous cycles. Not to mention 30 interviews isn't even half their seats (and I assume those 30 aren't guaranteed acceptance [/rumor?] like the sillyness at UoP), and since they usually take a majority in-state, you remaining in-staters with competitive letters are probably still very much in the running.

Although, I am surprised they didn't just do a very large interview mail out being so close to december and considering most people would already have had their apps completed a while ago... perhaps they drag out their overall "seat filling" way out into the next year? 😕

Now, I wonder how many of those 30 were OOS.

That is weird! Did you get the "other" letter? Or just no letter? Nevertheless, congrats!
 
you get it thru email or actual mail. I have a PO box and its hard to check it every day.
 
I'm WICHE from MT and just got an interview today! Finally! For those of you that have interviewed already, how did they go?

I did get an email from them letting me know they got my materials and whatnot. Then they sent me an invitation through email and a packet through snail mail.

I had my interview yesterday (11/14) and I was told by Mark that the group I was in was the 7th, 8th and 9th interviews they have had. He said that Dec 1st was not going to be a set date on when they'll notify applicants of their acceptance. They want to look at more candidates.

They should be contacting more applicants very soon.
 
Also if you guys want to know the interview consisted of spending time going over the logistics of the school (tuition, class schedule, etc), we spent some time in lecture, then we had to observe a dental student during clinical work.

You're then interviewed by two faculty members at separate times. The first interview was really laid back, the second one for me was more of a question answer session (e.g. why is OHSU a good fit for you?, what are some challenges you faced?, etc)

What do you mean by 7th, 8th, and 9th? Number of total interviewed candidates, number of interview sessions consisting of 4-5 students? Thanks for sharing with us.

I was referring to the total number of applicants interviewed thus far. FYI my interview session consisted of 2 other candidates, and I was told that other sessions only consisted of one or two.
 
Uh..... Is OHSU still extending Interview invitations? They must be right? This place and OHSU on predents is sooo quiet......😕
 
Yes, they are. I called them last week and they said they will be extending the next round of interviews in the next couple weeks.
 
I'm pretty sure they'll be sending some once the new year starts
 
I've heard of some out of state, but nothing in state. They've been extremely late the last couple of years.

I interviewed Pre-Dec, had not heard a word from them since. So I called the other day hoping to get an update on my status. I got the standard, "Everyone that has interviewed still remains in the pool and can be chosen at any time." 🙁
 
Any in-state interviews this month? I saw a couple in state acceptances December 1st but haven't heard anything since. I'm curious how many seats are left?
