OHSU vs University of Wisconsin, Madison

I am from the west coast and LOVE Portland, but Madison is great and both schools seem to offer similar opportunities in eduction, residency opportunities and research. I like the students more at OHSU but there was nothing wrong with the students at Wisconsin.

The thing holding me back from OHSU is the OOS tuition, 62K vs 42K at Wisconsin.... Also, thinking about winter in Wisconsin does not bring joy to my heart.

I am feeling stuck and nervous about the big cost difference, but feel more at ease in Portland.

I await your thoughts.

OHSU because you can probably get IS tuition after a short while and 20k isn’t all that much to stay where you seem to fit the most.

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that you can't establish Oregon residency after a year

I think both schools are fine. My friend recently graduated from Madison and is now in residency at a big name university in California so there's always opportunities to do residency out on the West Coast. I'm also considering OHSU but the OOS tuition is killing my vibe about that school... I dont want to be in more debt than I need to be from med school so I would vote for the cheaper option imo

Both are fantastic schools, but it seems like OHSU is the better fit for you and you'd be happier in Portland. IMO the price difference is not great enough to not go with OHSU in this situation (at least that's what I'd do).
