I know it's not easy waiting for the mail man/woman. 😛
Non-TradTulsa said:Aww, rats, Jwax - I didn't want you to get waitlisted. You've been a real trouper through all this. Didn't want huranch to get waitlisted, either. But - it's not a rejection, right? The guys from the Class of 2009 know more than I do - but, let's assume out of 162 spots OU took 152 in-state. I think usually about 25% of in-state acceptances ultimately don't enroll at OU (if I understood USNWR correctly). Soo... that's 38 spots that open for waitlisted people. Those have to be very decent odds. Hang in there!

Mail got here very late yesterday I guess.

Sorry Rachel. That bites. I feel for ya.RachelD said:I'm on the waitlist too.
I looked at the above link, and I wouldn't recommend asking for another interview or contacting the persons you interviewed with. A letter of intent is a good idea, and definitely stay in contact with the office of admissions. But, it is ultimately up to you about how far you are willing the push the envelope...in hopes of a red one!! Hahah. 🙄 Anyway, let them know you still want to be here.IAMS said:All you waitlisted folks who want in need to read the following:
The Medical School Application: Waitlists
Small exert:
Waitlisted applicants are expected to be extremely aggressive if they really want to go to that school. If an applicant does nothing, then it is assumed that he or she has been accepted at another school and doesn't care if he or she gets in or not. So, if you have been waitlisted, don't despair! Usually at least one-half of the class comes in from the waitlist! Just follow the recommendations below, and continue expressing your interest in the school.![]()

I'm a long time reader of this site, but just registered. I am one of the lucky wait listed people, but in the letter they sent me they stated that "to be consistent and fair to all wait listed students, your credential files are sealed and no further information may be submitted". Do they have our files under our names? or are they by application number like they did at the meeting. Would a LOI really do any good given this information?speedo542 said:I looked at the above link, and I wouldn't recommend asking for another interview or contacting the persons you interviewed with. glp said:dont forget tomorrow is the recommended deadline for submitting your FAFSA information. there is that scholarship application online at http://hippocrates.ouhsc.edu/scholarship/ which is due 3/31. my application will be less than stunning. my main concern this past year was paying bills and getting into school and it shows as far as my ec's are concerned (unless fishing and barhoppping count). beyond that, i am trying to do as little as possible and remove all stress and responsibility from my daily life.
I'm only speculating - perhaps somebody on-campus knows why - but, here's what I noticed. If you look at OU's entry on US News, in the last year reported OU offered 200 acceptances for 150 spots. If they only offered 162 acceptances so far this year, perhaps (and, again, I'm just guessing from what I've seen) they've decided to discontinue "overbooking." If, in past years, they overbooked by 50 acceptances and had about 30 on the waitlist - they would have had 80 on the waitlist if they hadn't overbooked. So - maybe that's why they have 80 on the list this year - and the odds of coming off the waitlist are just as good as past years.GoBroncos! said:yea i was wondering about the 80 ppl thing on waitlist, that seems crazy! its not like they had more applicants this year? and plus they added spots too so dunno why its so high..
Okay, I've decided my interpretation of that. I really doubt OU sends out acceptances to more people than what they have room for. As I have said before about that...it would be really stupid do that. Anyway, i bet those numbers are how many acceptances they did give out...but over the course of the entire process. Like, when someone turned them down, they would have to send out another. So, they sent out 200 in total, but 50 people turned them down along the way.Non-TradTulsa said:I'm only speculating - perhaps somebody on-campus knows why - but, here's what I noticed. Does this make sense to anybody else - does anybody have details?

oudoc08 said:That does make the most sense. After all, the class size on the first day is exactly what the class size is advertised to be.
If they sent out 200 acceptance letters, it's impossible to predict whether 50 of those would drop, and they'd surely be in a tight spot if it didn't work out exactly. So, I'd assume you're correct. They likely send out the maximal number of 150 (or 162, whichever year you're considering) , and the total number probably reflects the declined acceptances in some way.
