Oklahoma State 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
"not qualified" just means you didn't take a required class (usually animal nutrition etc), or you didn't take the biology GRE, or perhaps you didn't meet the minimum GPA

nothing personal. it's a rejection without being a true rejection. more like a "disqualified"

Also, you can be disqualified if you took upper level classes at a community college. These are organic, biochem, and animal nutrition (I think).

I spoke with Dr. Meinkoth this past summer to get clarification on this policy. I didn't want to waste money applying to a school if I wasn't qualified and I didn't want to be this year's version of LVT2DVM's disqual. In ol Tejas, organic is a 2000 level class, thus can be taken at either community or university level. She informed me that the upper level requirement for organic is only for IS/contract students (OK lists o-chem as a 3000 level course). They accept 2000 level o-chem from OOS- for now. She said "for now" as if that could be changing in the coming cycles.

She also elaborated that lower level biochem and animal nutrition are not accepted for either IS or OOS. Those must be upper level regardless of your IS/OOS status.

Well, seeing as it is mid-February and I haven't received a letter that says I'm disqualified, I will go ahead and assume no news is good news for now. Lets hope for even better news in March though! :luck::xf:

UTK takes forever too, hang tight!

Thanks for the clarification, crittergal. Yeah, we have 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 level courses. Like, 'evolution' is 4133, and 'chem I' is 1414 or something, so the course number corresponds with its level.

Good job twelvetigers! they already created the OkSU interview feedback!

so for those who interviewed today, you should fill it out if you can!

and relaying info twelvetigers told me, they will send out letters March 8 - 12....so pretty soon!!

Awesome, glad I got such a speedy response. 😀 Maybe because I got to check the little "donor" box?

They handed out a piece of paper that said the week of the 8th, which is the week before our spring break. The committee will meet on the 4th. Not bad!

I hope everyone's interviews went well! I'll fill out interview feedback tonight... not that it will matter for us since no one else is interviewing this year 😉

oh and just to confirm... 80 people interviewed for 60 spots. (my mom asked a student who asked an official interview person)

soooo not bad odds!!

damn!!! i wish my IS had those kind of odds!

Y'all happen to know anything about this year's OOS applicant pool? Just curious what the odds this year are compared to previous ones. Any idea?

I just called admissions to change my address (aka see when they were sending out letters... although I do actually have a new address) and they said they will be sending them out early next week.

Just thought I'd share the update. Good luck everyone!

A friend of mine who is a second year at OK State vet school said she heard they were sending them out at the end of this week... but who knows which is true. By any means, next week we will know!

Fingers crossed... OK State is closer to home for me and a little cheaper than the 2 schools for which I'm currently on alternate lists.

And now we wait...

I always seem to get mail a day later than most people and I live in Stillwater! All of my friends will probably get their letters and I will be stuck waiting an extra day. It happened with the interview letters so I'm just guessing it will happen with the acceptance/rejection letter 🙁

That sucks! At least no one lives on campus (on here)... campus mail is so slow! You'd get the letter like a week later than everyone else. :d

Um, by the way... the evolution exam is on Thursday, right? Haha.

This is going to be the.longest.weekend.ever. :meanie:

Yeah.... at least you're in Stillwater right now. I probably won't be there to get my acceptance/rejection letter if it comes before Tuesday (which i kinda doubt will happen). By the way, I would totaly be down for meeting at Apen sometime twelvetigers. I definitely do not hang out at the weed.

After checking the mail today...

"I will not stalk the mailman. I will not stalk the mailman. I will not stalk th... OH MY GOD THERE HE IS!" *runs out of house screaming*

I can safely say that there was no letter from OKSU, just a gas bill. 🙁

Oh well. I'm still guessing Tuesday!

Just last week my house went on a new postal route... We used to get the mail in the late afternoon, but now it arrives by 10:00am. Since I know how slow the USPS can be, I'm guessing they just deliver the previous days mail the next morning... A day late in my mind! Oh well. I'll probably still be the first OOS-er to get the letter as I actually live in Stillwater.

Keep repeating...*I will not stalk mail man until wednesday*

Does anyone know the envelope status for OkSU? Do they send everyone a letter in a small envelope to let them know they were accepted/rejected/waitlisted, and send acceptees the big envelopes later? Or do they send acceptance packets right away? I searched previous threads and found one from 2007. That year they sent everyone a small envelope and acceptance packets were sent out in June. They also had a place on the website where they posted the status of applications, so things may have changed. Does anyone have any ideas or know from last year? I know this is dumb but I'm trying to take my mind off of things and I'm bored. We need more talk in this thread! Maybe everyone could introduce themselves since we could all possibly be classmates in the fall!

Hi, my name is Heather...and I'm a mail-box-check-a-holic. My roommate (a first year here at OkSU) suggested to me me that I should try to avoid SDN forums for a few days, as I've become a bit obsessed. I think she has a point. Back to reading my new Dawkins book to keep my mind off of mail box checking.

Tomorrow is only monday...I know it will be hard...but don't pounce on your mail man.

ps- When my roomie gets back from studying I will ask about the envelope situation. 🙂

I heard that last year the acceptance letter and the rejection letter both came in small envelopes and that the acceptance letter was thicker than the rejection letter. It's probably just a way for them to torment us for a few more moments before we actually get to open the damn thing. My name is Melissa by the way. I am a zoology senior at Ok State, graduating in May.

OMG, OMG......i can't believe it's here already.....HURRY UP and get the news already.

GO TT!!! and everyone else, of course.

Good Luck guys!!!

!

Confused. (too little sleep and too much SDN)
"It's here", as it you got your letter?

Thank goodness its Spring Break or I would not be getting anything done for checking in on 12Tigers---COME ON MAIL!:luck:

man, I'm getting so antsy and anxious for oklahoma...its not even funny( well, it may be funny to someone watching me check this forum, mailbox, and magic 8 ball for some sort of validation that I may be a vet in the next four years)

I'm hoping, so much, for good news this week. After the past couple years and especially the past couple weeks, I really need it.

Here's for hoping for the best. Good luck everyone else.

No mail today 🙁

What schools still haven't sent out their decisions? Oklahoma State and Oregon are the ones that seem to keep popping up but who else?

Nothing good in my mailbox today, either.

The other schools that haven't done acceptances yet are UC Davis, Florida, UTK, and Tuskeegee. Oh, and Western should find out this week too.

Georgia should be sending out their letters this week as well.

Neither has NC for it's IS applicants.

Yeah and I still have to actually interview with Florida, which won't be until March 20th. I don't think I will know a final decision from them until pretty late.

I didn't get anything from OKSU today either when I got home. I'm thinking tomorrow is the day! Good luck everyone!

I found a remedy for the whole freaking out about vet school thing...

Tadpole fecals, LOTS of diet coke, and some pandora.com. If anyone wants to help me finish the tadpole fecals, I've got enough to keep about 10 minds off of vet school for about 4 weeks. 😀

ps-my MS thesis concerns parasites of tadpoles.

Might I say that I find it highly annoying that my mail isn't delivered by 8:30am. I have to wait until 4? USPS has no concept of how many agonizing hours that causes me to wait. 4pm?? The suspense is killing me! :scared:

I'm counting on all of you stillwater folks to get your letters today so that way I know I'll for sure get mine tomorrow! don't let me down!!! :xf:

(for once OSU will actually beat OU at something... getting letters first!) couldn't help it! 😛

Yeah, come on letters!

I'm just a couple (ok, more than a couple) hours down the road in Texas so lets hope for speedy mail delivery by at least tomorrow!

Good luck to everyone! :xf:
