Hey guys,

Is there a reason I can't use PCAT prep books that are 1-2 editions older than the current ones? I know we are going to CBT but the content shouldn't change very much would it? I can find those prep books a lot cheaper and they would be the primary source of studying as well as current textbooks that I own.

Would these older books still be representative of the content found on the PCAT for this year?

thanks!

EDIT: For example, I found a cheaper Kaplan PCAT prep that is from 2005. That looks to be 1-2 editions older and seems sufficient at first glance, but I don't have the 2011 to compare with. Obviously testing protocols might be a little different but otherwise sounds good?

Thanks lea. I found a 2007 kaplan and barron book online for less than 5 dollars since they aren't the newest edition. I do the same with a lot of my course textbooks for a lot of classes like math. 😀

Yeah, I don't like Barron that much. The math isn't nearly as challenging as the PCAT. Also, I recommend picking up an old GRE verbal book because the Kaplan one sucks. Kaplan is good for bio/chem, though. Collins is the best for bio.

Yeah I was talking about barron GRE. I saw kaplan was only good for bio and chem. Aside from collin is there anything else you recommend? And for the collin, there are a bunch of random updates I hear but will an older edition work for that? I can probably find an older one on Amazon...

Also, would the MCAT prep books work as well? Examcrackers, TBR, etc. I found an older set of them and they are really inexpensive and they look to have some solid verbal sectoins and whatnot.
