Thank you all in advance for reading this and for any feedback you can give!

40 years young. ORM. Reapplicant
UG c/sGPA: 3.46/3.46 (last 72 hrs are recent with 3.76 GPA)
Grad GPA: 3.77 from coursework MS (non-SMP)
MCAT: 30 (7,11,12) > 517 (127,130,130,130)

Clinical:
- 800+ hrs Nurse Aide
- 24 hrs shadowing (FM, EM, Neuro)

Non-clinical:
- 300+ hrs non-clinical volunteering (somewhat scattered)

Research:
- 5,000+ hrs in two neuro labs. One 2nd author publication. Multiple posters and conferences.

Teaching/Leadership:
- 500+ hrs teaching assistant/tutor
- LOTS of work experience and leadership both on- and off-campus

Regional restrictions due to money/family: No CA, NYC, Boston, Chicago, DC

Although I am interested in patient care as my primary focus, I would love to continue doing research and teaching as well. My current goal is academic medicine, potentially in neuro or ID.

My school list is chosen for schools that like reinventors and/or older non-trads, have plenty of research opportunities, and are in areas that my family can afford to live in.
  • Colorado (IS)
  • Case
  • Pitt
  • Mayo
  • Rochester
  • Cincinnati
  • Hofstra
  • Brown
  • Dartmouth
  • SUNY Upstate
  • Quinnipiac
  • EVMS
  • VCU
  • Vermont
  • Western Michigan
  • Tulane
  • Maryland
  • MCW
  • Indiana
  • Albany
  • Wake Forest
  • UF/UCF/USF (strong ties)
  • Creighton ? (not sure if I have enough service or how they will view all my CC credits)
  • Vanderbilt ?
  • Duke ?
I was planning on applying to about 25 schools. Is my list well targeted and are there any schools I should take off?

@Goro - you often recommend Vanderbilt and Duke for reinventors, however, MSAR shows that neither have many students over 30. Would you still recommend them in my case?
