I have heard that most of the information on SDN is a little outdated regarding OMFS programs. Can those who applied/externed in the past 2~3 years post a quick list of which programs especially stand out in the following categories:

1) dentoalveolar/sedation experience
2) implant experience
3) orthognathic experience
4) trauma experience
5) Head and neck experience
6) cosmetics experience
7) any other type of experience I have missed

The rule is that you must have externed or interviewed at this program personally, and it must have been in the past two to three years. Your inputs would be greatly appreciated by those applying to externships/programs for this upcoming cycle.

kinda interested to hear about this as well

I was a GPR resident at Brookdale in Brooklyn, NY and we worked very closely w/ the OS residents so i hope my input applies to ur stringent criteria :)

The residents there got a ton of experience in the following:

1) dentoalveolar/sedation experience: good amount
2) implant experience: very little
3) orthognathic experience: TONS
4) trauma experience: TONS AND TONS
5) Head and neck experience: TONS
6) cosmetics experience: not much at all
7) any other type of experience I have missed

The hospital is a level 1 trauma center in BK. Needless to say, you can see what type of cases they were doing.
Hope that helps.
