I signed up for a spanish class at the beginning of the term and completely forgot that I did until I took a look at my official schedule online. OMG, I can't beleive it. Even if I were to go at the end of the term after I realized it, I would be screwed...:scared:

Anybody ever have a dream (nightmare) like this? I was so relieved when I woke up and realized it was summer...

I have had a recurring dream that I find out I never graduated from high school because I signed up for some class and forgot about it and never attended it. This was while I was in college, so I had to go back to high school and finish it, then go back to college.

It was a pretty weird dream.

This reminds me of an episode of Felicity where she asked her roommate to drop her withdrawal forms in the mail so she could drop a class, and then the week before the final, she finds out that the roommate never did it and she has to learn an entire semester's worth of history in order to pass. Of course, it's TV and she ends up getting like an A or something, but still, scary thought.

Moral of the story: never trust anybody else to do something important for you.

Ah, irrational dreams. Pull up a chair. I had a dream that I asked to look at something in my file from my college's admissions office. They check, then realize that they never meant to admit me. So all my credits are invalidated and I get kicked out of school.

When I saw the first part it immediately reminded me of so many of my nerd nightmares. Mine generally consist of flunking a class either because I forgot I signed up for it or I forgot about an exam. The whole having to repeat a class in high school is pretty common too. I heard the nightmares only get worse after med school, which is kind of a scary experience in itself.

Yup, I've had that nightmare. The worst one I ever had (which was WAY too realistic) was about two years ago when I was trying to decide which semester to start my post-bac classes. I had a horrible nightmare that I signed up for fall semester and then changed my mind to spring, but forgot to withdraw in time. I thought that I'd blown my chance at med school for good and that I'd never get around a whole semester of Ws. Needless to say, I was ECSTATIC when I woke up and realized it was a dream.

And actually, now that I think about it, I once got a W in undergrad because I forgot and missed the withdrawal deadline by one day for a silly 1 credit geology class. If someone asks me about that at an interview, I may start laughing. This process makes you a little nuts, methinks.

LOL. at first i was like wow! hahaha. ive had a dream like that. actually, ive had alot haha. in high school, i had a dream that i woke up too late and didnt make it to my SAT test and couldnt take it. =\ not very good but it feels good knowing that it was just a dream.

man, you all have such negative dreams. mine are always along the lines of "i got admitted to X SOM" (well the school related ones, anyways) 🙂 but i guess while you guys wake up to find that life is much better than your dreams, i find that my dreams are often better than my life 😉

OMG I have this same dream all the time except mine is forgetting a French class!

Yeah, my dream involved trying to drop it but couldn't because I was a day too late.

I had a dream like that too. I didn't know I had an art class until the end of the term and I had to cram for the exams. I knew that it wasn't real cuz I never studied that hard for anything in real life 🙂

I dream about things like this ALL THE TIME.

"I have had a recurring dream that I find out I never graduated from high school because I signed up for some class and forgot about it and never attended it. This was while I was in college, so I had to go back to high school and finish it, then go back to college.

I've had a dream like this only there is some sort of pre-req except mine is different. I am in need of some pre-req and I have to sit with a butch of people half my age and it sucks.

maybe this is some weird pre-med complex.

I definitely have compulsively checked my schedule before... but I'm not crazy.

I had a more positive dream last week. I dreamed that I got into UMich and that they called me because not only did they want me for the medical school, they also wanted me for the law school. I screamed with joy and told everyone I knew. It felt SOOOO real and SOOOO good!!! An amazing feeling, I was walking on air...

And then I woke up to realize I could not hope to be accepted to Michigan except in my wildest dreams...which is why I didn't apply....oh well. 🙄

I think you're on to something...I started having these types of dreams after becoming a pre-med, and never before.

That's so weird that so many of us have had dreams in which we've dreamed that we forgot about a course for which we signed up. For me, it's mostly a math or spanish class or something less relevant than the big courses.

Yes, it is! It's always a class that I would probably never have taken, like computer science, language, or math; weird...

I had a dream that I got an 12 on the july 24th MCAT :scared:

Actually, this is a recurring dream of mine all the time.

Gee, this actually happened to me...in real life. I signed up for a psyc class but decided to take something else instead, and thought I had dropped it during the first week. Not until the end of the semester I realized this....so it's on my transcript.... 😡

Thanks for sharing. I was feeling like the only one that that happened to outside of a dream! There must be others out there that missed the withdrawal deadline by a day or two, or thought they'd dropped a class but didn't. Then again, this is SDN. Everyone is perfect. Hmpf.

I have also had this dream. I dreamt that I was in some English class that I never attended and I was completely distraught because I knew I was going to fail.

I have been having a dream just like that too. It's basically the same dream you are having. The class is Spanish too! weird

I had this dream but mine was a Spanish linguistics class that is only offered in the fall (major requirement). Besides having the F on my transcript, I would have to wait another year to graduate and another year to dread being rejected for the F. 😱

Not quite like that, but I've had several dreams where I forgot to turn in a paper, or show up for an exam. Strangely enough, this was after I graduated.. so at least when I woke up, I realized that I had nothing to worry about.

I hate to tell you, but you never stop having this dream. I am a lot older than all of you, and I still have this dream. Another variant is trying to find my way around a campus I have never seen. One surprising dream is one in which I am taking a math exam, and I do well remembering stuff I learned decades ago.

Irrational dreams are the best. I especially enjoy the seconds upon waking where you still think that the events of your dream are real and you get a huge sinking feeling because you can't do anything now about your 23 on the MCAT and then oh wait jesus christ what the hell is wrong with me, I didn't get a 23...jesus christ...

edit: uh and I apologize to anyone who may have gotten a 23 or worse but lets be reasonable for a second, in the soul crushing world of allopathic application, a 23 is a rough one.

I had this exact same experience. I was so depressed I almost cried.

That's so funny! I've had almost the exact same dream. They told me I had to go back to high school (some requirement not met), and I was so upset because the classes were so dumb and I had learned so much more in college.

Ditto quiltlady. I had this dream for...ummm...4 years, 1967-1971. Could be because there were actually some classes I never did go to--just turned in the papers and appeared for the exams.

One class the prof. summoned me to his office after I received a "C" on an English paper (my major). "Miss B....," says he, "you get an A for your writing skills which are excellent and an "F" for content, hence the "C." "Had you come to class more often, you would've known how to attack this topic as I addressed it in class more than once." I started going to classes more often after that, but by then I was a junior!

Thankfully, I raised more diligent children and did not share these stories with them lest they'd gotten ideas they hadn't thought of themselves!

PM me Quiltlady...I'm a quilter too!

Yikes!

one of my college buddies actually did exactly that. He signed up for a class and forgot about it until he got a reminder from the school. that's not the whole story yet. THEN he forgot about the final of that same class. So he never took it. Needless to say, he didn't pass. Had to re-take it the following semester because it's a required class for his major.

I always had a dream where I decide it will be a good idea to go to class without my shirt on. As I walk to class no one seems to mind and some even think it's a great idea. Anyway, I get into class, sit in the back and get my test. It is at that exact moment that I realize how stupid it is to be shirtless and that everyone will be really pissed when they find out. Of course everyone is looking at their tests and the professor has his head down, but I know that at any moment, someone will spot me and call everyone else's attention to it. Weird dream, I know, but I've had it at least once every finals week since high school. Odd what the overworked nerd brain can do...

not exactly class registration problem, but a similar situation happened in my first semester in college

basically, when the final exams schedule came out, i looked at it and saw no time conflict... until 2 weeks before the finals week, i double-check and my economy class and architecture theory class have the final exam on the same time slot! It was like 2 months past the deadline for conflict scheduling, so i contacted both professors begging, because i didnt want to take two final exams (at two different locations in the campus) all within two hours

at first both professors refused to make an exception. One professor even told me "I suggest you spend an hour at each final" 😱 But I was able to get a pardon from the other professor after personally visiting him and begging..

Im taking Organic in the fall among 3 other classes and 2 labs. I have had a the same dream about 4 times this summer that Im kicking Organics butt like 3 weeks into the semester, and then I realize that I havent gone to any of my other classes. I know how you feel.

I had a dream that I signed up for a calculus class but never went. I completely forgot about it but showed up the day of the exams and failed all of them. It was one of the worst dreams ever.

Too bad I didn't learn from it because I did EXACTLY that this semester. I have 4 hours to learn a semesters worth of calculus. Who wants to bet on my grade?

On Ellen DeGeneres' talk show she once called some girl who was supposed to be graduating in a week or so pretending to work for a dean at her school and told her that she couldn't graduate because she hadn't taken some required class...

Haha, before I read your final sentence, I was like this sounds like a lot of dreams I have around finals time. I have dreams that I'm in some class I forgot that I registered for, never went to the class, past the withdraw date, and I have some huge exam the next day in something like thermodynamics and I'm freaking out. I also took a Habsburg history class last semester, and after I wrote the final 40 page paper for the class, I had a dream that teacher gave us one more final paper, and that it was somehow due the next day, and that it was on grandfather clocks, cause I in my dream somehow hated grandfather clocks. Then I talked to the students in the class and they were all like "yea man, I'm almost done my paper on grandfather clocks" and I was like I haven't even done any research!. Anyhow, enough with my terrible dreams.
