With your GPA, MCAT scores, and extra curricular activites I don't think you will have ANY problems getting in. I'm not sure where, but if you look at the average GPA's for incoming students you are slightly above average. You may want to consider interviewing at more than 1 school though. Also, the interview proccess has a large impact on admissions as well.

Thanks for the encouragement! But my question was what scores on the MCAT or DAT will guarantee me into pod school? I'm so discouraged after my mcat and I want to see what I should do.

Well, there are no guarantees, but I would think you'll need above a 20 on the MCAT to get in. I could be wrong about that, but 20 isn't a really high score.

As for the DAT, I know a lot of schools are trying to phase it out, but it may still be accepted some places. I would wait to see what your score actually is before you think about that option, because you'll have to beef up your math and perceptual ability for that test.

Also who knows, your score might not be as bad as you fear.

Apply to Temple and AZPod -- they both accept not only the MCAT and the DAT, but also the GRE!

Oh really well okay yeah if i dont do well on the MCAT re-take in the end of august I will try to study for one of those exams. Ughhh i should be able to get a 21 or 22 on the mcat at least cuz isn't that what pod schools would take me in for anyway? I'm not a dumb student ughh i get almost all A's, i dont know why the MCAT is just screwing me over.

Don't get too hard on yourself, the MCAT is a hard test for everyone. Try not to worry too much until you hear what your scores are. In the meantime, try to decompress and de-stress for a day or two and then start beefing up on those subjects you know you did poorly on the first time around. Your studying will pay off, but you need to relax a little bit. Nerves can totally undermine your hard work, determination and preparation if you don't take care of them.

I'm sure you will be fine in the end. Good luck!

The MCAT is definitely a difficult test. However, getting over a 20 isn’t that difficult to accomplish. I am sure you did fine on the MCAT since you have stated that you “get almost all A’s”. But if the MCAT is a huge problem for you, you might want to seek advice in the MCAT discussion board within SDN.

The average MCAT score for podiatry school is a 21. Keep in mind that 21 is an average score; you can score lower. You might want to check out this website for the average MCAT score: http://www.aacpm.org/html/statistics/PDFs/MatrStats/Matriculant_MCAT.pdf.

I didn’t know podiatry school existed until early last year (a similarity between you and me). I am assuming that you lack the knowledge of podiatry schools and the profession. I do not mean to criticize you but I strongly suggest that you do the proper research of podiatry and decide whether you actually want to do it. If my assumption of your knowledge of podiatry is false, then simply disregard this whole paragraph.

Nothing is guaranteed. Something is always there that can hold you back. Shooting for a low score, or a score that will be borderline for acceptance, does nothing for you or the future of our profession. If you want to go to podiatry school, study hard to do the best you can.

Anyway...🙂 :luck::luck:

you can apply to NYCPM and Temple, because they both accept the DAT. On the DAT, you have to get a 16 or above on the Total Science section and the Academic Average. At least the DAT is given any day of the year and you receive your grades right after you finish your test, so you don't have to wait to take the test or to know how well you did on it. But overall, I think you have a good chance of getting in! Keep us informed --
> let us know how it goes for you!!

Azpod does not accept the DAT any longer. For this past application thread, they did accept the GRE. No definitive word, but plans are to take the MCAt only starting next cycle.

At Azpod, you must get a 20 or 21 for an INTERVIEW. The last 2 classes had an average of 25 and 26 for matriculating students.

Dangit!

Henry,
That's what AZPOD admin counselor told me as well..
we just missed the bus 😉

Henry,
I know temple's website still shows the GRE as acceptable...if you find otherwise let me know - otherwise I might see you there~

MCAT MCAT MCAT

If you don't take it, you're only fooling yourself. Even with a good score and good grades yadda yadda you still may not get in. Make sure you're as well prepared as possible. If you have a pulse and any thread of common sense you should do fine in the interview!
