OMM topless ??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ok so i'm a little confused with some random posts I have come across, does practicing OMM require students to take off their shirts? lol I remember reading that girls are in sports bras as well. Is this true?

Seems legit. Better start losing some weight.

Yep. Guys shirts off and ladies in sports bra/swim top.

Not at my school but we are on the edge of the bible belt. We do have very sexy uniforms which are navy blue t-shirt and long navy blue shorts.

Well, if I go DO, I need to swim more to lose some blubber, then. I got four years, I got this! xD

Yes, sports bras for girls and shirtless for dudes....but let's not all get boners here. Your classmates aren't all Kate Upton.

context plz. why would you need to show skin in medical school?

...DO WE PRACTICE ON EACH OTHER?

On a similar note, has everyone seen Kate Upton doing that dance on YouTube? Sweet Mother of God...

yea she is definitely a hottie! That dance was cute😉 and I really can't believe she is only 19 😵

You're kidding! She's built like a house for 19. /17 year old girl

oh crap. I am in decent cardio shape but my abs are getting flabby (dang beer gut)... honestly this hadn't even crossed my mind, but I'm vain enough that I need to start doing some serious toning before August!!

haha they sound super sexy! I'm curious, do guys have to partner up with guys, and girls with girls, or just random?

Random, but I believe they said something in the beginning of the year that if you need to be partnered with the same sex they can accommodate you.

I'm in the bible belt and I'm fairly certain it's sports bras and shorts for us. Could be wrong, though.

We also have a lot of Mormon students who apparently got upset when we were in physical diagnosis and the girls took their shirts off wearing just a sports bra to let people practice for the cardiac exam. The girls weren't being modest enough in their minds.

What about needing to be partnered with the opposite sex?

UMDNJ SOM must be an exception. The student tour guides at my interview said students don't remove clothing (after somebody asked them) because it's supposed to be important to palpate through it or something.

this just made me super happy 😉 counting down the days til OMM labs lol

From another school in the Bible Belt, it is definitely shorts and sports bras for the ladies

We haven't been shirtless since first term. yes, it is important to learn to palpate through clothing, but trust me, you'll have a difficult time feeling rotation, extension/flexion with bare skin at first. You'll be fine....it is literally the last thing on anybody's mind after the first day of OMM

Does Ab Ripper X count? Tried it once...it was hard to stand up straight for the next two days...

 I did Cardio X and Plyo yesterday and walking was definitely a chore today!

Pfffft! They need to get over it. They will be doing much 'worse' things in the not too distant future. Guarantee it wasn't the group as a whole. Some as uptight as the 45 Kids and Counting people.

I can say it, I'm mormon.

Likewise, I agree! My class also has quite a few Mormons (I'm one of them). Some are more uptight than others, but that has nothing to do with being "Mormon". As a whole we're not concerned with dress code in OMM lab or anything else.

I wish I could have shared a group with the one or two uptight ones I'm thinking of in my class during breast and pelvic exams. That had to have been an awkward moment 😀!

I attribute it to a BYU education "cgrblue":laugh:

No it definitely isn't the group as a whole. I think it comes down to a handful at most.

After thinking on the topic of why dmu has the uniform where a lot of schools don't, I think it comes down to that our omm room faces a busy street and is floor to ceiling windows. It would be pretty inappropriate for us to be doing omm in sports bras while the elementary school kids walk home.

LOL... imagine the type of questions their parents would get after school each day.

Don't know what you are talking about. 😉 All the women lounging around on the grass with 2 inches above the knee showing was more than enough for me to lose my awkwardness.

(almost everyday I consider donating in order to change my SN, I could always start a new account, but I can't lose my 500+ posts...1st world problems)

I think curtains in the windows with strategically placed back lighting would REALLY give those kids something to giggle about.

Nice! Provo is definitely a unique place.

Naah, be proud! The cougars outnumber the Utes 5:2 in my class. They've gotta be doing something right down there.

Her cat daddy made me do this... specifically the bababbbbbababababa part.

What? do you guys practice breast exam and physicals on classmates??lol very awkward....

and BTW OMM lab is NOT a big deal. You take your shirts off for like 2 or 3 weeks and then everyone stops caring if you do or not. (At least that is how it was for us at PCOM).

No, the sensitive exams are on Standardized Patient actors. But those who are squeamish about having female (or male) classmates half naked infront of them must have been very squeamish having standardized patients who were naked right?

We practice everything except for breast, pelvic, and rectal exams on each other at my school. We then qualify on each Physical Exam technique with a standardized patient while a clinical facilitator grades us.
