OMS1 interest in research assistantships

Hi all!

I am currently an OMS1 and looking for potential research assistantships/summer programs etc. I have found a few here and there from MD schools but worry that as an DO student I will be passed over. My program doesnt have a huge output for research and I am hoping to match gen surg/ obgyn one day. I finished with a 3.79 gpa in fall and am on a cadaveric project currently at the school (unsure when/if publication will happen).

If you all have any advice on where to look or how to cold email DO friendly programs that may have surgical research I am all ears!

The best source of inspiration for you should be current OMS4s at your school who applied to gen surgery and OB/Gyn. What did they do?
