Does anyone know where I can take a biochemistry course (lecture) before this summer is over? I need it for admissions but I can not find one that I can get into. UNLV needs this course for their admissions. thanks for anyone's help

try berkeley, or just do a search.... good luck

maybe ucla??? they usually offer courses in the summer...

What city are you in? I just added Biochemistry at CSUN though the Open University program. But you must go to class.

Deanna,

I would check with Dr. Ancajas regarding the appropriate class. I was told to take the 400 level biochem by the chemistry chair at my university. I would check with UNLV to be sure 300 level is acceptable.

BTW, my sylabus looks identical to the one posted above.

dprice,

any idea how much tuition+ddp video comes out to be for biochem?

I took biochem last summer at UNLV. They have 3 summer sessions and biochem is offered during the last session, it ends with just a few weeks rest before actually starting D school. The class is short, fast and wickedly surreal but in a way that is what was great about it! Your first semester will use alot of your knowledge you learn from your biochem class, so don't be frustrated about having to have it, and instead "just do it". The professor is amazing (aside from his illegible handwriting) If your interested in taking that course PM me and I could provide you with some "study" material.

Tuition is $177/credit and it's a 4 credit course, so that would be $708. I'm not sure how much the videos and other required course materials are.

Hey Shaymus,

I was talking to Dr. Ancajas and she said the summer biochem class at UNLV is usually filled up with current UNLV students (and NV residents). Since I am from out-of-state, I would have the least priority and probably NOT get in.

What was your experience from last year? Was the class packed?

Thanks,

yes, the class is packed! Until the first exam 😳) Usually there are plenty of "weed outs" after that. If you talk with the instructor AND show your letter of acceptance from UNLV dental school you would definately be allowed into the class. There were about 20-25 students during the summer session last year that were incoming dental students the following year. Dr Ancajas should have also told you that if you had a problem enrolling to have Kimberley call for you. She did this last year, and we had zero problems...like I said before, the class sort of empties out after the first exam.

Thanks Shaymus
