Hey all,

Just wondering if you knew of any question bank type board reviews that can be purchased in prep for the med onc boards... I know there are official courses like GW, but I was looking for something a little less intensive and more self-study.

ASCO-SEP is the primary one. We're doing a semi-monthly board review using it. It's kind of thin in some areas and some of the answers from the question book are wrong but it's about all that's out there that's like what you're used to from the Steps.

Yep, read through ASCO-SEP... are the questions that come electronically with the code the same ones in the book?

I believe so but am not certain. My program bought a paper copy of the book and questions so that's all I've seen (as a first year fellow I'm going to wait a year or two before buying it). The online questions are set up as timed practice tests so it doesn't work well for intermittent studying, probably best for those few days before the test.

Has anyone used DeVita, Hellman and Rosenberg's Cancer: Principles and Practice of Oncology Review? I did a few questions in the 1st edition a while back and it seemed good. The 2nd edition just came out so should be up-to-date. It's cheaper ($71.95 vs. $300) and has more questions (900+ vs. 184) than ASCO-SEP.

Any thoughts?

I have it (1st and 2nd editions actually) but haven't really cracked it open. Definitely a lot more questions. Not sure how it relates to the boards themselves but I'm a believer that more questions is always better.

Okay, I ordered the Devita PPO Review book. And FYI, it looks like you get online access to the questions and explanations as well.

I'm going to watch the GW board review DVD's several times through as well. I'll let you guys know how it goes. 127 days 'til the test!

I have also found the ASH-SAP and accompanying question book to be very high-yield.

Does anyone have the George washington borad review DVD or audio for sale? Or any other board review material for oncology?
thanks

Since your last post...have you used the 2nd edition of the review book? Any relevance to the true oncology boards...from what you hear???
