Oncology question

I was just wondering...for anyone that wants to specialize in the oncology area...why they want to work in that area. What drove you to this decision of helping others' w/ cancer??? Thanks!!!

I had a really amazing resident who is going into onc. She really thrives on intense emotional relationships with patients. Onc is also very challenging medically because the patients can be extremely sick, and the good outcomes are very rewarding (imagine how awesome Lance Armstrong's oncologist must feel).

i know one classmate who wanted to do this, because her relatives/family members died of cancer.
