I'm considering taking biochemistry online through UC Berkeley extension. It's a 3 unit lecture course with an in-person final exam.

questions:

1) Unless it is clearly denoted on your transcript that the course you took was online, how will adcoms know it's an online course?

2) I get the picture that it's not in ones best interest to take prereqs online. That's understandable, because most of the science prereqs for dschool have labs associated with them, and try as you might, you just can't do chem lab online...anyway, since biochem isn't really a prereq and does not require a lab, why would it still be not a good idea to take?

Has anyone ever taken any science lecture courses online and been accepted? Or know of anyone?

I asked this same question last week and got responses that were all over the place. Some will tell you that schools won't accept online pre-reqs, don't listen to them, it all depends on the dental school. Check with your school(s) and make sure they accept it. Yes, your transcript will show it is online. I am taking online biochem through the University of New England, and I know a handful of schools accept this:

just take it in a school and save yourself the headache. you dont want to retake because d-schools didnt want to accept it. its not worth the hassle IMO.
