Does anyone take online courses to help to boost their GPA? I already have my BS in nursing and was thinking about taking online classes to boost my GPA..........

I've taken a few but be careful. I'm in one right now that might end up hurting my GPA. As long as you are willing to dedicate yourself to the material much like a regular class then it should be fine. Take them over summer and push yourself when other kids dont.

I had one summer course where all the assignments were available from day 1. One girl and myself both blasted through the whole first half of the course over one weekend (Memorial day I believe). After this the teacher closed everything down and said she wanted us to participate and not just do the work. Since we had nothing else to do and had read so far ahead we participated the most. Made me feel good inside that the teacher's opinion of my motives were wrong in the end.

last time I checked, dental schools look down upon online classes, right?

I do not think dental schools really care about online classes. I could be wrong. I think that they (the dental schools) are more concerned with the type and level of classes that are taken along with the grade achieved.

It's probably OK for tweaking your GPA a bit, but it's not going to help if there are major problems with your grades. It may depend on the school too, if they are willing to accept online coursework. At my Midwestern interview I was told to finish my missing prereq through any means possible, including online.

If dental schools look down on online classes I'm screwed. What are you supposed to do if you work 40 hours a week. I think they know online classes aren't a walk in the park. 400 level courses are 400 level courses.

Check your transcripts because my college doesn't say if it's an online course or not. All it says is the course name and the grade.

I read that the dental schools that I am interested in won't look at online courses. IMHO, not a good idea, but check the dental schools that you will be applying to and see their requirements.

Same here, most (if not all) of the schools I looked into frown upon online courses. Unless it's you're only option, I would avoid taking them.

Could you please post a link to what you read. I have yet to see anything related to taking online courses on a school's website, and I've looked at >75% of them.

How do they know if you took it online or not??? If it doesn't say on your transcript. I just don't get that. GPA 3.3 DAT TS: 20 AA:19 Lots of EC, work as a dental assistant,Good LOR Bachelors is Biology took 15 hrs post-bac, Don't know what else to do????
