Hi everyone,

I've officially been accepted into a post-bacc pre-professional program for pre-vet, so I can get my pre-reqs started. I've been obsessed with the requirements at various schools, and trying to plan the order of how I'll take my classes (while working full time). Summer classes seem like the best time for me to take things online, if possible, because I'm a teacher and my summer starts much later than college summers (meaning I can't jump in on the rigorous summer class schedules during the daytime hours). Night classes seem to only be available in the fall and spring around here.

Can those of you that are farther ahead than me (which, let's face it, is all of you!) tell me if you took any courses online towards your pre-reqs? I am thinking of taking college algebra and stats online, as it seems that would cover the math requirements at most schools. Everything seems to require potential labs, making online learning impossible, yes? Just wondering if I have this part figured out. I'd honestly rather be in the classroom whenever possible, but it just saves me time to know I can get a few done online.

Thanks everyone! And hope you're having a nice weekend!

I took Trig, Calc I, and Cell Biology online. None of the schools I applied to had a problem with it, but it’s best to double-check with the particular schools you are interested in. 🙂

Thanks for the info.! Can I ask where you took the classes?

I took Org chem 1 and 2, Gen Bio 2 and Biochem all online with online labs. The chemistries were taken through UNE Online and the Bio was through my local community college. UNE offers Bio as well but it was cheaper to take through the community college. UNE also offers physics. As mentioned before, check to make sure the schools you’re applying to will accept them.

Yes, this.

Also, do you know if any of your pre-reqs have pre-reqs of their own? Sometimes this is dependent on the school. For example, at the place where I did my lower-division pre-reqs (biology, general chemistry, physics), first semester gen chem was a pre-req for first semester bio. Not sure why, but that was the rule at this particular place.

I teach online chemistry and online physics as well as their on-ground equivalents. We use lab kits which allow students to do experiments at home while still having a very positive lab experience. The lab kits cost students about $100 (for one semester courses) to $300 (for two semester courses). I do not hesitate advising students to take my online courses since I know they are truly learning the material.

Where do you teach online physics?
