Online Practice Questions From the Official Guide

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you for your question! I think it's all relative to the person taking the different practice materials. There can be so much variance because of the sheer number of different topics on the exam. It's possible the official guide hit on topics you're weaker on compared to the section bank. I know that the official guide organic chemistry is pretty difficult and that's a section we tend to put off a bit since it's not a small part of the exam. As a result, some people find it fairly difficult.

With that being said, I always tell my students not to panic about difficulty or their score, but to use every passage as a learning experience. If you're missing questions because you didn't know the topic as well, then spend some time to review that topic and then apply that information to the questions you missed to make sure you understand. So, if that concept shows up on your exam, you'll get it right and that's when it actually counts.

I always share anecdotes with my students of when I was studying and one of those is that I loved getting questions that I missed. If I got a question right in practice it wasn't as useful to me because I would probably get it right on the exam. However, when I missed one in practical, I was thankful because I could learn the concept in case it showed up on the actual exam where it counts. I would hate if a concept showed up for the first time on the real exam and I didn't know it. I know I'm rambling a bit! However, I just want to emphasize to not worry about difficulty of questions, but to use everything to learn for your exam! I hope that helps and good luck! Please reach out if you have any other questions!
