  1. Pre-Health (Field Undecided)
I have read quite a few responses about online degrees for pre-med, pre-dental, etc. Would a stellar science GPA and MCAT score possibly be enough for an admissions board to look past a Business Administration degree from American Military University? A couple things to point out:

1. I am an active duty Navy Corpsman with 10 years of service, multiple deployments, and moved across the country 3 times. My only real option for ongoing college has been online.
2. I have a 3.94 GPA from AMU.
3. None of the science pre-reqs have been done online. Several from Pensacola State College and a few from Cal State San Marcos, all with lab work. All A's and A-'s.
4. Haven't taken the MCAT yet, but studying hard and hoping to knock it out of the park.

Would that be enough to be competitive? Or is an online undergrad degree that much of a blemish? Either way I am still going to apply, but I would just like a realistic and objective viewpoint of how that would work out for podiatry school. Thanks

I certainly don't have an online degree but I've taken a number of online classes and they never asked about any of them. In fact, I believe that there's not even an option through the application service to mark a class as "online" like there is for MD/DO applications. So in that case, I assume that they probably won't care too much. Although, the best advice I could give is to contact the admissions office of a school you might be interested in attending.

I was a medic with 11 years in service with active army and air national guard. My sgpa and cgpa were both around 3.5, and a 22 on the mcat. I have been accepted at every school I interviewed at so far. Don't doubt for a second that these schools don't understand the scope of what we have accomplished as medics/ corpsman. It has come up in every interview and so far everyone understands that we have been able to do things that most civilian emt's, techs, and nurses aren't allowed to. With that being said, an online degree shouldn't be an issue considering the constant moving around involved with being in the military. With your gpa and experience you will be fine as long as you don't completely f-up the mcat. Should be smooth sailing.

Oh and i had about 40 credits at a community college with online classes. Hasn't come up once.
