Hello,

This is my first time applying as a U.S international student to OVC, and I have not seen a thread for this school yet. We should post here with any updates or questions!

2nd-time International applicant. Interviewed and was waitlisted last year, so I'm hoping I can come out with an acceptance this year!

Hi guys! I'm a second time applicant, first time applying to Guelph and international. I've been waiting for this list to pop up.

Moved to "Committee Case" today! A little later than last year probably since I sent my check and ABF in a little later this year lol Hopefully its just about a month now until we hear back about interviews

Hello, my status on web-adviser changed to "Committee Case" on November 14th, and I think we are supposed to hear back about interviews December also. I looked at last years admissions statistics for the international students, and they were more competitive than the previous year.

OVC has a reputation for having their admission statistics increase every year, but Fall 2019 entry was an exceptional increase, even for the Canadian student cohort! There are chances this may be an outlier and the admission averages for Fall 2020 may be better than last year! It just depends on the applicant pool for that year.

Could someone post a screenshot of what their web advisor screen looks like? My account does not show any information even though I have email confirmation that my application documents/fee have been received. I logged in with the given information but it does not seem to be working, or I have not set it up correctly.

Oops sorry scratch that, I sorted it out

Does someone mind posting the link to the login? I can't find my email with the link

After looking at last year's OVC 2023 Thread, I noticed that applicants received their interview notification on December 12th, 2018, do you all think it will be the same timeline this year, and we should expect to hear back this Thursday regarding interviews?

Hello, so has anyone heard back about interviews? I asked and was told that we are supposed to find out this week.

Just received interview invitation! It’s on February 2nd 😊

International Interview Invite as well 🙂
Feb 2
Do they do all the international interviews on the same day?

How did you receive the interview invitation for those that did?

2nd time international applicant and received my interview invite for 2/1!

I’ll be grading interviews on the 2nd!! Can’t wait to see you guys there. You’re all going to do amazing

Does anyone know where we received our Guelph ID# that they want included in the email accepting the interview? Or do they just mean our VMCAs ID#?

Hello, I received an interview invite in the afternoon for February 2nd at 2:00 pm!

Hey, I think the ID number can be found in the email that was sent earlier in November on the University of Guelph email called "How to use WebAdvisor." So it isn't the VMCAS ID, I think we are assigned an individual ID number from Guelph.

Congratulations to everyone that received an interview!! I'm excited to meet some of you on February 2nd! 🙂

Does anyone know if we need to send fall transcripts?
Hey, I don't think so since OVC admissions did not request them, and I think in order to apply you have to have all the required courses finished. However, I am not a hundred percent sure, so if you want you can also call or email them too.

Anyone know the general interview format for OVC? MMI, traditional, etc. Thanks!

Assuming same as last year its MMI with 8 stations, 2 raters per station. 2 minutes to read the scenario, 8 minutes in the room. 7 stations were scenario based, and 1 station was based on questions they had about things listed on your application. They also provided a pen/paper for each room to jot down any thoughts/notes/talking points you come up with in the time you are reading it over.

There will be 7 scenario stations and 2 BIF stations this year! I believe it’s 1 bif station with 2 vets and the other with 2 students but I could be wrong.

does anyone know if MMI questions include any math or data analysis? or only scenario?

I did the interview in the undergraduate cohort last year but I believe it is the same in both. No math or data questions and no acting stations either! Also, apparently this year there may be 2 personal work experience stations instead of 1.

thank you so much! when you did the interview, were the questions mostly about ethical problem? plus how did you prepare for it?
This is my first time applying as international applicants and there is lack of information 🙁

I've heard that they don't use MMI format for international applicants, does anyone know if that's true?

It is MMI for international applicants
On the interview summary page for Guelph this is what people were saying: "The webpage that discusses the interview process does NOT mention that international students are interviewed differently. I thought it would be MMI, but it consisted of more general questions about my experiences and myself." (this is the link- University of Guelph Ontario Veterinary College Interview Feedback) This could be old though, which is why I was confused

I believe they changed it a few years back from the conversational to MMI. I interviewed as an international applicant last year in the MMI format so I'm fairly positive it will be that this year as well. They also have a description of their MMI format on their website if anyone needs to reference it! Selection Process

The questions were ethical or behavioural. In all honesty I did not prepare well enough. I would say the best thing to do is to practice as much as possible in a situation you can make as realistic as possible (be timed, do a few in a row, ask people to help you and give you honest feedback). I have done a couple MMIs, what makes guelph's more difficult is that interviewers don't really converse with you, you feel like you are talking to a wall for 8 minutes until you announce you are done because they are told not to give any sort of feedback during, verbal or otherwise. A lot of people read the Rollins books, I'm not entirely convinced this is enough to be prepared. There are courses that are helpful for some people, but if you can find just mock MMIs somewhere where they will give you feedback after a realistic practice MMI this is my suggestion. Guelph was my first one and I've done a few this application cycle since and I think understanding how the process works and having had just a few practices will make a world of difference if I am lucky enough to get an interview again this year.

They do but only if you announce that you are finished with your thought and end with "this is how I would approach this situation". And then they read a script of questions so sometimes you've already answered the question and so you just have to be like "as I mentioned previously" and repeat your answer which I find awkward. All in all its just way less natural than other interviews or even MMIs I've done so be prepared that you may not really build a rapport with the interviewers

Hey, so how does everyone feel about the MMI Interview that we all recently had? I have mixed feelings about it. I wish I knew my academic rank before going into the MMI or at least received some sort of feedback.

A lot of people come out of these interviews with mixed feelings, try not to stress about it! I know it's easier said than done, but you did the best you could in the moment. These MMIs are supposed to have an element of stress and make you think on your feet - it's hard to judge how you did especially since the interviewers are instructed not to respond. I have heard of so many people saying they thought they did horrible during their MMI and were actually accepted because they did better than they thought they did.

Have any internationals heard anything yet today?

I haven't heard anything as of yet, was hoping maybe someone else has heard something. I thought they said we were supposed to hear from them today?
