non-acgme? really? are they just as good? whats the difference?
1- May end up doing days as an attending in non-cardiac rooms.
2- Doesn't lead to TEE certification.

Kind of late to be choosy now. TEE certification is still possible. Plus the pay might be better, hours worse.
TEE certification is still possible.
please explain

If you graduated residency prior to 2010 you are still eligible for the TEE exam
Plus...could always take the basic exam and be a testamer and you're still able to bill for the insertion and exam...and as of right now-I don't believe the reimbursement is different between the certifications...I guess this could always change-but in reality you could do a non ACGME Accredited spot-learn TEE-get your exam numbers-and go get your CV job
Granted-this is conjecture as I have not completed any CV fellowship

All of what you have said is correct, but amyl is still in residency. And the question is concerning certification, which involves more than just taking the exam.
That said, you're right, it doesn't change how you bill or what you can do, though some groups may prefer hiring someone with certification.

I know she is, but this was just to answer the question in general terms. There are several people out there, that if they choose to go do a fellowship after practicing for a bit, that are eligible for full certification, even with a non ACGME spot.
And then when it all boils down to doing TEE and being able to bill for it...a group is not hurt by hiring a non ACGME fellowship trained person with the Basic certification...if they had good training and can do a full exam...they can do the same cases and bill the same amount...actually...anyone can do that if they want to do hearts- Some groups are hot on wanting fellowship trained and some don't care...
I personally enjoy doing TEE and plan to take the basic exam at some point....but no desire to do a fellowship

Does anyone know how to check the unfilled spots on Frieda? Also, is there a source to find a list of the non-ACGME programs?
Thx
Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesia website.
I was just looking at the NBE website. Concerning advanced cert all it says is that you need to have done a dedicated CV training program but does not mention anything about it having to be ACGME accredited.
There is no CV anesthesiology board certification, right?
Anybody have certain knowledge that it must be ACGME accredited?
Thanks
Seeb

Those who finished residency after June 30, 2009, must complete an ACGME accredited fellowship to be eligible for TEE certification.
