Hey guys, hows it goin. Im a US GRAD / PGY-1 who was first interested in something else (not IM) when i applied for pgy1 spots. So the only medicine programs i applied to were VERY few prelim/transitional years. So i got lucky and got matched at Christiana Care Health Systems an affiliate of Thomas Jefferson for prelim medicine (for anyone looking for a nice prelim/ty with good learning, pathology, and a lot of elective opportunity -- highly recommend this place although the prelim/ty program is pretty competative with most doing Ophtho, Rads, Derm, Anesthesia). Anyhow, right before the year started I decided i wanted to do IM subspecialty such as cards/GI. Leaning more to cards.
Anyhow, i got my year CATEGORICALIZED so that I could jump into a PGY2 spot somwhere next year without having to redo an intern year. Im looking for places that may have open PGY2 spots next year and prefer more solid programs (not neccessarily the HARVARD, JH type but solid). My dilemma is that because I did not wanna do medicine last year, my whole fourth year I spent doing other stuff, didnt really try to learn much medicine and didnt care how I did on Step2. So here are my stats:

Step1: 230
Step2: 190something i dont even remember cuz i didnt care
Supposedly from what I hear so far, im doing pretty well in my internship.
I have the In-Service coming up which im sure ill get killed on especially since i have to take it after a nightfloat session.

Anyhow, if anyone of you know of a program that would be willing to take a PGY2 next year, let me know. I welcome any reply.

Thanks

ZR

could you remain at your current program? most programs will allow prelims to convert to categoricals if they do a good job.

yes i can, but I came here for a prelim year, not for a categorical. Now that im interested in subspecialty, Id like to go somewhere that has fellowships of their own.
