What is a good ophtho text for a medical student that is taking a first ophthalmology elective?

I would also recommend a Michigan website. Google "The Eyes Have It" and you should find it. It is quick, easy to read, hits the high points, and is interactive.

I recommended this to all the med students who rotated through our department. It's superbly written, fun to read and contains clinically relevant information.

wow this is awesome! Does it give free access to his whole book or is this just a truncated version? it wasn't completely clear from the site. I wouldn't mind paying to get the full thing, but just wanted to make sure.

Ophthobook.com is probably the best (and most affordable) introduction, especially with the outstanding video lectures to go along with each chapter. For more serious third and fourth year students, Lange General Ophthalmology is a pretty quick read which covers nearly all subjects in decent depth.

You can also find some great stuff on the Iowa website.
