I've been trying to start volunteering in recreation therapy but due to working full time, my schedule doesn't seem to align nicely with the time slots.

I'm kind of bummed out that I can't volunteer in this position because it's something that I've really enjoyed doing in the past, and now I don't know what else I could look for as an alternative.

Does anyone have any suggestions for something similar that could be done for volunteering? I enjoy being around vulnerable populations, hearing about their stories and engaging them in activities. Any help is appreciated!!

maybe try volunteering at a free clinic, the boys and girls club, a nursing home, a hospital, and maybe even a homeless shelter.

Cast a wider net, there are loads of places. My nearest animal shelter is grateful for 2-4 hours a month. That might not be an attractive opportunity for your interests, but generally I don't think it should be so difficult to find a low-commitment volunteering position, even if you can't work less hours at your job.

Google transitional housing and the name of your city. You should find links to facilities that help people who were previously homeless due to alcoholism, crisis pregnancy or mental illness. Here's one example and they even specify that they are happy to have volunteers who aren't available other than evenings and weekends.
