I was told by several other attendings to use Michael Ho's course. Big Blue is great for the Written "quiz," but for Orals it seems Ho's course takes the cake.

I would put in a plug for the Board Stiff series for the orals. Although some of the exam stems may be simplified, his systematic approach and brief topic reviews were very helpful in structuring my studying. If you have lots of time to read, I'd add Yao and Artusio's book and Atlee's Complications in Anesthesia, which has nice, 2-page summaries of varies clinical scenarios and management. Neither are cheap, but both are excellent.

Atlee is great - it's a good book for when you've got 30 minutes to do a topic start-finish.

No substitute for time talking though.

Board Stiff Three is an excellent book. The scenerios are very helpful.
The money in preparing for the orals is in going over mock orals. HO and Yao are good books they both contain way too much information. The time spent in reading massive books can be better spent in developing polished answers to the most common clinical situations that appear on the orals.

The hand book to anesthesia and co-existing diseases is a must read. It is concise and can be read several times, easily.

Anyone interested in unloading Big Red, please PM me.

Thanks.

Audio Red was the biggest waste of 600 dollars I ever spent. It sounded just like audio blue, is not tailored for the oral exam, has too many verbal "typos," and my edition (2008) hadn't been updated in years with some outdated material. Complete crap that doesn't gear you at all for this exam. There are far better study materials. The only person that would find value in this 25 CD set is Oddjob, the killing machine from the old James Bond movies that could fling one of these discs like a frisbee and slice your neck open... So, you still wanna buy mine? How much you offering?
