Can a pharmacy stop ordering in oxy? I heard some pharmacies have stopped ordering in oxy altogether due to way too many suspicious rxs/MDs in the area. Pharmacies are NOT required to stock oxy correct?

I never stocked "straight" oxycodone (any strength) at my last job but apparently you could theoretically get in trouble at WM for not stocking oxycodone 30 since we got flack as a market for not having it on auto-replenishment (I do have it for exactly one person with a low TDD for a real diagnosis, not M54.5 or G89.29)

Is that what it has come to? I don’t know why people don’t seem to realize that these pain medications can be used for a legitimate purpose. Why not just have the drugs but don’t dispense it if the Rx/Doctor is sketchy and you don’t think it’s for a legitimate purpose?

Yup. It's a war on drugs. There will be civilian casualties.

It's your license so yes there should not be a legal requirement to stock anything. If your company requires you to stock something as a condition of employment you are free not to accept that condition of employment and not work for them.

In my specific situation I had Oxycontin, oxycodone/ASA, oxycodone/APAP along with MSER, fentanyl, hydromorphone, methadone, Kadian, Avinza, Opana ER, oxymorphone IR and even meperidine too so there were many options to cobble together a pain regimen. MCK and/or CVS cap ordering of oxycodone presentations so if I ordered plain oxycodone that would take away from the other presentations

We stock regular levels of the product, but an indy in town got robbed so many times they declared they'd never do any more C-II pain meds. Sign on the door as you walk in...
