Hi

I was wondering what kind of nomenclature you are expected to know for the pcat?
i.e. something as simple as naming 4-methyl-2-pentene (given the diagram)
or complicated structures with benzene rings and side groups?

do you have to know the common names of structures as well?
(like isoprene etc.)

thanks!

I recall there were questions of both types on my exam. You do need to know stuff like benzene rings and functional groups, but not more complicated than that. They don't test you much on common names, so don't worry.
