Has anyone ever used/learned o-chem using this? I highly recommend it to anyone taking organic. It came up when I asked a question about studying ahead of time, and I realized how useful it was. Personally, I can vouch that organic chemistry as a second language is great. Best 30 bucks I ever spent. 👍 I know of several pre-med advisors/classes requiring or recommending this book. Now I see why.

Any other pre-dents out there who have heard/use this book?

didnt read the post, but that was a helpful book.

Used it when I took orgo over the summer, very good explanations of many concepts in the first course. The second book for orgo 2 was not quite as useful. They also provide a fair amount of additional practice problems, which may be especially useful for someone who doesn't have a work book already in their class.

I used both as references for the DAT as well. Personally I would only purchase them if you still had to take the class, not simply for use in DAT prep.

I'll definitely look for it in the bookstore, I'm starting Orgo this semester.

Khan Academy is free, and gives video lectures. I'm an auditory learner, so I think I'll use that too.

It was one of the biggest reasons (Chads and Destroyer deserve credit too) that I was able to take the DAT before doing o. chem 2 and have it be my highest section on the DAT. Great set of books.

You only used OAASL, Chad's, and Destroyer for o-chem, from what I found using the search button about your DAT. I'm wondering...would you mind sharing your o-chem score?

It was near 30...I think I probably got 1 wrong but I am not sure exactly.

Congrats, sacapuntas! That's hopeful! I'm taking the DAT without having taken Organic 2, which is why I asked. Been watching Chad's videos, doing Destroyer, and I'm currently waiting for my OAASL to arrive in the mail so I can have more practice problems. Thanks so much for the info! :luck:

Organic chemistry is not something you want to try to learn via podcast. That works for everything except organic.

Agreed, the practice problems are excellent.

Hey, Conflagration, I saw where you are at Campbell in one of your other posts; I was able to get Organic Chem as a Second Language from Campbell's library and found it to be helpful, especially during orgo I. You may want to see if you can get it from the library before spending the money! 👍

O chem as a second language is a great book. It allows you to keep a big picture POV that leads to understanding.

I used it: "A" first term. "A" second term. 👍
