hi,

Can anyone tell me what should I keep in mind for org. chem for PCAT.

Since I did not take org chem 2 yet, will it be harder for me to get a high score in PCAT or PCAT deals with mostly org chem 1 questions??

Thanks in advance...🙂

I searched a lot about PCAT study guide and here is what i got:
No, you don't have to take Org Chem 2. Org Chem 1 is enough.
If you're good at General Chemistry 1&2 and know general information about Organic Chemistry (which is almost in O.Chem 1), you should be FINE.

most of organic chem on the pcat is nomenclature from my experiences

In regards to Organic Chem, you only need knowledge of Organic Chem I and not II. I did get 2-3 questions on reactions in the Oct 2009 PCAT so beware of that. Although I wouldn't stress too much about this.

On my version of the January PCAT, there were 3 or 4 organic reaction questions from Organic 2. I think that if you know the basic concepts regarding oxidation and reduction reagents, you should be in good shape. There was more nomenclature questions and a few theoretical questions regarding SN1 vs. E1, etc.

I took the PCAT in October before taking Orgo II. I think it was fine. Just go thru the review books. Orgo II basically consists of aromatic compounds, including grignard, synthesis of alcohols from ketones, aldehydes, etc.
