So I have 4 credits of labs for organic and I have taken 8 lecture hours in organic. I am in the last term right now but I think I am going to have to withdraw. Pacific requires 12 credit hours, but doesn't say the year long series is required. If I drop, do I have enough organic hours to qualify?

Thanks

Are you saying you are going to withdraw from taking the last 4 credit class? It is my understanding that most schools just require you to fulfill the requirements prior to matriculation. So, you can take the class again next Fall (or Spring) even after you have applied/been accepted.

My question is it required. I was considering not taking it at all. I have 12 organic chemistry credits, just not the full year series. The school requiers 12 credits. Is what I have enough even though its not the fulll sequence?

I'm not familiar with the quarter system, but my understanding was that generally schools require Organic Chemistry I & II (both with lab).

That's correct. If your in the quarter system. All you need is 12 quarters credits (which should be O chem I and II with their labs). I'm not in the quarter system so don't quote me on that. When I look at schools it lists 8 semester credits or 12 quarter credits...I assume they do the conversions for you. It should equal the same amount of credits...I suggest to call the school before you do anything.

Semesters you have I and II. With quarters you have I, II, III and labs.

I have finished I and II and 4 credits of lab work. This is 12 credits. I am just wondering if I would be okay without III

Which Pacific do you mean? If you mean the one I'm attending in the fall, here in CA, you'll need I, II and III, non-negotiable.

Organic Chemistry - Two semesters or 3 quarters with labs in each term. Should be a course sequence designed for chemistry or biology majors. *Please check the articulation agreement with your school to determine if your sequence meets our requirement. Students who have not enrolled in two semesters/three quarters of organic chemistry within the last seven years are required to enroll in one year of organic chemistry with labs to refresh in this area.

Ah, the faker Pacific!

Well, it seems like their site is pretty clear about only requiring 12 units of O Chem...

Why not contact them directly? Alternately, Aboveliquidice, an Emeritus Moderator on SDN, is finishing up @ Pacific Oregon right now and I am sure he could help also.

Hey now! Back off! 😛 I did call them. I however would like instant gratification of knowing right this moment either way. Ya know how it is. 🙂
