Hi there, this is my first post, but I have been using SDN as reference for the past year. My dilemma is this: I'm a nontrad 28 next week 😀 transferring in the fall to a 4 year, from a tech school. I've completed an assoc in science, and in the process had the privilege of meeting an outstanding chem prof, who has really made an impact on me. I'm taking Orgo in the fall and I would like to take it at the tech school with that prof. Do you think this would look odd to MD schools? I've checked it out with my top choice, and they seem to not care as long as my MCAT shines...

By the way the prof has a Phd from Duke....not that it matters, but I just wanted to include his credentials to show that he is qualified to teach the course.

I'm no expert, but I can't see why it would even matter.

I would go with it...you might be able to get a great req from the professor too.

Just my opinion,

PhDtoDO

When one encounters a teacher who's teaching style meshes with one's learning style, it's important to cultivate a relationship with him. It's a beautiful thing for the teacher and the student both. I can't see how it would affect your admission to a program as long as the credit transfers from the tech school to your 4 year school.

It is possible that they will wonder why you continued to take classes at the tech school after you've enrolled at a 4-year. For example, when people enrolled at a 4-year take organic at a communiy college it raises red flags since they might think you are trying to take the "easy way out" with a hard class. It doesn't prove that the class will be easier there but that is that impression. I would say that once you've started at the 4-year you should take all your classes there.
