Do you know of any organizations that pay to put a person through medical school?
I’m trying to identify any/all organizations (governmental and non-governmental) that pay, e.g., tuition, room, and board (and possibly a stipend) – while a person is earning their medical degree (e.g., MD or DO). (Presumably such an organization will want the graduated/licensed doctor to provide X years of service to, or on behalf of, the organization.)
I understand the U.S. Army has such a program – and I’m trying to identify others.
Thanks for any information you can provide – e.g., organization names, websites that list such organizations, etc.

Any of the armed services will pay tuition + stipend. Of course you pay it back through time in the service. Most MD/PHD programs will pay/waive your tuition, but then you have to do extra years for research for the PhD. Usually there is some catch to getting a free ride. If military service or research are your cup of tea then you have some great options.

do the military only if you are interested and like the military life.
Financially speaking, you'll lose money in the long run

This isn't always true. You would have to look carefully at how much your tuition is going to be and also what specialty you will be going into/what your expected salary will be. For example someone who goes to a very pricey private school and racks up 300-400k in loans, and then goes into a lower paying specialty like peds may be better off going military. Then again I'm not sure whether the military recruits for peds or if they just contract it out. Either way there are a few scenarios where it makes sense. The military forums have some good info where people have put up spreadsheets showing military vs private.
