what sort of organization are people using for this section of the AMCAS? chronological? beginning-to-end, or vice versa? or by grouping similar activities/experiences/awards together regardless of when they occurred/were received?

any you want.
some use chron
some use from most to least important
some use alphabetical order
etc...

whatever you feel like. my had no order...just put them in the order they popped up in my head.

I think that a med school admissions counelor told me that the schools dictate the order that the experiences appear when they get them from AAMCAS (I met with her about a year and a half ago so I may not be correct). Anyone else heard this?

I was actually wondering the same thing...just found the answer in the AMCAS instruction booklet, bottom of p. 15:

You may sort and display your post-secondary experiences by experience type (e.g., military, research) or chronologically. This is for your personal use. Your designated medical schools will also be able to sort and display your experiences by type or date regardless of your display preferences.

Yeah I just started filling them out and you can sort them chronologically or according to the kind of experience

If med schools will not reorganize your 15 activities, then I'd say how ever you order em, try to start off with a good strong one, and try to end with a good strong one. That way, you'd get a good first impression and good last impression. This is a trick from graphic designers when they set up their portfolio.

I think when i did mine, I just did whatever order.
