Hey everyone 🙂 I'm a junior in college. I've decided on going to dental school, and I'm currently leaning towards GP, and Orthodontics. I've shadowed both a general dentist, and a orthodontist.

First up : GP 🙂

GP intrigues me because of the variety, and how you finish dental school, and you're making money. However, I'm really not that into starting my own practice. I'm really not the business type. I was wondering, how much of a pay cut would you take for being part of a group practice type thing, as opposed to starting your own practice?

2ndly: Orthodontics.

Orthodontics intrigues me because it has jsut a little bit of physics thrown in. Also, because of the fact it seems a lot more common for orthodontist to work in joint practices.

Out of these 2 I have some general questions 🙂

1.) which would provide the best life style?

2.) Which would you get more "unique" cases?

3.) Any cool links about either?

Thanks in advance!!!

You have the cart ahead of the horse. First, you need to get into dental school then you can worry about this decision. Those who want to specialize must achieve excellent grades in dental school.
