For everyone who was asking about how many seats had been filled, I have an update.

I went by OSU today and was told that around 60 of the 88 seats had been filled. Since my interview is not until March 29, I found this a little discouraging. She told me that the number is bound to "shift around" a lot once people decide where they want to go for sure, especially out of state applicants changing their mind, etc.

Hope that helps. Kirk002 (I think that's your name :), have you heard anything else?

Anyone who has any useful advice re: OSU interviews have any comments?

I havent heard anything as to how many seats have been filled. I just got pulled off the waitlist and got my acceptance last week. I will probably end up going there, however, i do have an interview at OU next week and i'm still keeping them in mind. but dont get discouraged, the numbers will shift around later when people decide where they are going. just rock on your interview (i got asked most of the questions on interviewfeedback.com) and even if you get waitlisted, call them later and and talk with them to try and see how you can make your app look better. just keep on expressing and interest. gook luck!

osu is an awesome school. i did get in there last year from the waitlist, but my wife and my 1st choice all along was suny buffalo. i don't care about this whole m.d./d.o. debate, i'll tell ya this though, there were other m.d. programs i'd have turned down to go to osu. enought telling you how great my experience was there, though. okay, so i didn't interview there until mid feb. last year and got waitlisted, then finally accepted around mid march. i think contacting their office to find out where i was and sending supplimental materials helped. talk to jennifer, she can help you out tremendously!

colorado_1,

Thanks for the information. I will try to contact Jennifer. I have currently been talking with Bonnie.

bonnie is really nice, but when it came to getting off the waitlist, deal with jennifer (i think her last name is richardson -- not sure i'm doing this all from memory.) anyhow, she seemed to help get my supplimental info. to the right people and she's the one who called me when i got the offer so i think she's the one you should really try to deal with.

I've looked on the OSU website at the staff directory and can't find Jennifer. I'm wondering if she is longer at OSU. I know the lady you are talking about. . .she helped Dr. Goodson coordinate an event at my school a couple of years ago.

Is anyone else familiar with her?

I am a second year at OSU-COM. Jennifer accepted a job with AACOM in Washington, DC sometime in the middle of last semester. She was great though. I'm sure she will be an asset to AACOM.

As far as the OSU interview, just be yourself and be calm. It is very laid back. Also, it is not a time to be modest (as with any interview). You should make an effort to point out all of your strong points.

Good luck,
Dr. B

Thanks for the info, Dr. B. Are you pleased with OSU?

Yeah, I'm very confident in the education I'm getting here. We have great faculty and our class is pretty close. Good luck in your interview and don't be discouraged by how full they say the class is. You still have a good shot at getting in here. People will trade in and out of schools once they get all of their acceptances and seats will open up. That happens at every school.

Dr. B, would you mind if I email you and ask you a few more questions?

Thanks,

UnderGrad

Not at all Undergrad. E-mail me at [email protected]. BTW, my college roommate was from Boise City in the OK panhandle. Do you live anywhere close to there?

I was accetped to OSU-COM in December and my interview was very laid back. Just be yourself!!!! You will interview with 1 Ph.D. and 1 DO at the same time. This is different from last year and I think it is much better. OSU-COM is a great school and you will see that the staff are very very friendly.

Hey OSU-COM is Awesome, I interviewed there on the 21st of Feb., and recieved acceptance letter on March 1st. I will definitely be seeing all of you class of 2006 in August.

To all of you who have been accepted at OSU, how did your acceptance letter arrive? Fed Ex?

When I interviewed last Friday, they told us there were only 15 seats left in the class. Forty people interviewed the week I did, there are around 60 on the waitlist, and they have 12 interviews remaining. Naturally, I have been trying to NOT get my hopes up too much. I called OSU today to see how much movement had occurred in the class. The lady I asked to speak with wasn't in. When I posed my question to the girl who answered the phone in admissions, she said, "Umm, hold on, and I'll try to find out something for you."

When she came back on the line she said, "I've just been informed you will be receiving something from us in a couple of days" which I thought was just their way of avoiding the question.

I said, "Wow! That was fast! I figured it would be closer to April 12th like they told us." (two weeks from interview date).

She said, "You should be getting something from Fed Ex in a day or so."

Is that good? Again, I'm trying to not get excited prematurely 'cause maybe this girl has no clue what she is talking about, but it seems that something from Fed Ex is a good thing.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for your replies.

Hey Undergrad, I was at that same interview with you on the 29th at OSU (I'm the Floridian :) )

I'm glad to hear we will be hearing from the school soon, even though I'm not too optimistic about my chances there. Two weeks can take forever, as far as I'm concerned.

Good luck with FedEx! Since you're in-state it's okay for me to wish you luck

Hey Fenrez! I'm glad you replied. It's cool to actually "see" people on the boards that I've met in real life--never happened before. I guess you figured out from my location which interviewee I am.

Thanks for the encouraging words, and I wish you the best in the medical school search. Keep me posted. You never know--OSU might accept you in a heartbeat.

Take care.

Oh oh, I didn't see the Kansas part at first. Is this Heather? You're out of state! Stop the FedEx trucks!! hehe, just kidding.

It's funny, though. The day before the OSU interview, I bumped into a girl that I had interviewed with at New Jersey, and now I bump into someone from Oklahoma. This is a good sign for you because the girl I ran into got accepted to NJ. Maybe the same will happen to you. :)

I do wish you the best of luck! If you get accepted, let us know. It's nice to find out about the people you meet at interviews.

Heh, heh. That SW Kansas part threw you for a loop, huh? The only reason it says SW Kansas is because the town I work in is right across the Oklahoma line into Kansas. So. . .nope, I'm not Heather. I sat right across from you. My initials are K.W.

I'll let you know what happens. Good luck once again.

UNDERGRAD AND FENREZ,
I don't want to get your hopes up, but after my interview, I also called about 4 days later, and they told me I should be recieving a FEDEX in a day or two. Lo and Behold, the fedEx came two days later and it was an acceptance, so you guys keep your fingers crossed and I really hope to see you guys in the fall.
GOOD -LUCK

I dont want to get your hopes up either, but my acceptance was via FEDEX. I first got waitlisted and it was just a normal letter (small envelope) but when i got my acceptance (a day later b/c my neighbor signed for it and kept it for a day) it was FEDEX. good luck and i hope you get your acceptance soon!

Undergrad and Frenz,
My letter came by Fedex also. I think that is a good sign you will be one of our classmates. Anyway, my friend Mike interviewed on the 29th also. Do you remember him (he is about 6ft3 with brown short hair)? He said the interview went well and he met someone from Kansas and Flordia. Anyway, good luck.

My acceptance also came via FedEx.

You are now reading a post from the happiest woman on earth!

I received my FedEx letter today, and yes it was an acceptance!

WOO-HOO! I never have to take the MCAT again!

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you OSU Cowboys in the fall!

Dr. MAXY , you are a good man, but you do not have to prove that you are the best man ! hehe!

Undergrad and all those accepted to OSU-COM 2006, congraduations. OSU-COM is a terrific school (just look at US world and News if you need any confirmation). I am sure you all will get a top-notch education. Enjoy your med school and try to have a good time. Dr. MAXY , I know you are the best, but please don't prove it :D

I interviewed on Thursday, March 28th. I got my letter of acceptance Thursday April 4th! It came FedEx, and my hubbie was home and opened it and read it to me on the phone. We are both excited to say the least. Anyone else from Thursday hear anything?

eveshands,
Hey, remember me? I emailed you awhile back about working for the pathologist, and you were so encouraging to me. Now we're gonna be in the same class!! I got my acceptance on April 4 as well, although I interviewed on the 29th. :D

Cool! I am so excited for everyone! Good luck to those still waiting.

Everyone who is definitely going to OSU, drop a note on the OSU 2006 thread in osteopathic. I think it would be cool to kinda get to know some people before school starts in August.

Dr. B or any other 2nd year,
Do you know of any workout gyms close to the school. I know I won't have much time, but I have to spend some time in the gym or I will go insane. Anyway, thanks in advacne for any help.
Luke

I heard at the interview that you can get a discount at the local YMCAs in Tulsa (as a student.) Try the www looking for a Y, they have tons of classes!

Any of you guys know where I can find OSU-COM's match list for 2002.
Thanks.
