Do you guys know about how many students are usually taken from the waitlist each year?
Not intending to stir up trouble or anything but does OSU favor older applicants over younger ones? I know that age factors in sometimes but does it in this case?
At Admitted Students day, there were lots of younger "right out of undergrad" people, a few older students, and a lot of mid-late 20's. At least that is how it seemed to me.
So now I'm "older" huh. Might as well have one foot in the grave
For those that attended Admitted Students Day, does anyone have a rough estimate of how many OOS students were there/accepted but couldn't attend?
They are charged out of state tuition, but Arkansas provides some of the money to offset the difference.
Does anyone know if interviews are over or are there more? I know bridge program interviews are coming up. I was told by someone on the waitlist that he was told interviews are over and the final waitlist is compiled. I doubt the final waitlist is done since interviews were conducted last week and those applicants haven't heard yet.
I'm not sure what you mean by "final waitlist" b/c they dont cut down the waitlist until May. At least thats what lindsey told me when I talked to her a couple weeks ago.
spoke to sarah last week and the interviews for week of 29th and last week were the last rounds. they were going to meet this week to accept and waitlist. this is what I was told I could be wrong and things could change.
If last week was the last round, I think it is kinda shady to be accepting supplementals (and fees) without the possibility of an interview.
I agree with this, I sent in my secondary a few weeks before the deadline and have not heard anything (I know it takes a few weeks but now it sounds like interviews are over before the deadline was even up for all applications??). Did I just turn it in and pay the fee for no reason?? 😕
I know someone that sent in secondary two weeks ago and interviewed last week. I'd call Lindsey and ask
She said it was five days after submitting the secondary. Her primary had been in for several months
At my interview day they said they conduct interviews until the last week of march.
Hey remember me? The one from Texas? Yea this week is making me very nervous. How are you holding up? At least we should be finding out soon. Good luck.
yay! if you don't mind, when was your interview and how long did it take for OSU to get back to you after you turned in your secondary??
Just got rejected from OU. For the first time ever, I actually feel good about it. It seals my belief that OU really doesn't care about anything but the numbers. I knew after my interview with OSU that it was the place for me; they're sincere, they care about primary care, and the DO mentality is right in-line with my MPH philosophy. I hope OSU gives me a chance!
No hostility towards OU, but I have to say it's relieving that I don't have to choose between the two anymore. I didn't want to go to OKC and ever since I visited OSU I felt an almost familial connection with them.

So you got accepted at OSU?!
I know exactly what you mean. After going to one of OSU's Med Xtravaganza's a couple years ago, I fell in love with the school. It just felt so warm and welcome. Esp. compared to the tour I had gotten of OU Med a couple of months before that. My interview w/ OSU went pretty well b/c the interviewers were so caring. It didnt go as well as I would have liked b/c it was my first interview anywhere but I got waitlisted (b/c of grades) so there's still hope. I had an interview at OU the very next day (b/c of storm rescheduling) and it was such an opposite day. Everyone there seemed so stressed out and the interviewers acted like I was putting them out b/c they had to interview me. I got rejected from OU and I know it was b/c of my grades and MCAT. While I understand that there is minimum level of intelligence required to become a physician, its not everything and I like that OSU understands that. Plus I think OMM is really cool!
Yeah, OSU hasn't accepted me yet. I'm hoping at the very least I get waitlisted, but I very much would like to be a part of their school.
Did you submit late to OSU?
Yeah, I interviewed last week. I know it's a late interview but they assured me that spots were still available, as well as waitlist potential.
Yeah, I saw when you stated you interviewed. Was just wondering that you had to submit late with your stats to get such a late interview. Being this late, you never know what can happen. But I assure you, OSU will not make you "just a number", and if you don't get in this cycle applying early next one will do wonders. Just show them DO is not a backup (not saying it is for you) and that you fit into their school. I highly recommend you to attend Med-X on Friday. Just in case something keeps you out, it would be a great learning tool about the school. They will go over exactly what they look for in an applicant.
