I have a feeling that we (2nd rounders) will find out early next because they will want to meet and talk about the interviews from this week and make the decision before Thanksgiving. I hope Im wrong and we find out tomorrow....or Friday.....this waiting game is no fun at all.

I was kinda thinking the same thing the more I pondered it today, but then my wife comes home with this banter.

It just seems like it would be pretty unrealistic to wait till next week, the committee meeting, making decsions on all of those interviewers (48), and putting together ups packages and waitlist letters. All this, the three days before Thanksgiving vacation when lots of individuals decide to go bye bye and not be available. Just saying

Well, I have an interview for Friday. My lucky underwear is clean and ready to go. I even trimmed the ol' white-man's fro today. Hard to go wrong with a more aerodynamic head and lucky untouchables.

Is it too late in the game to be sending a primary to OSUCOM. I wasn't planning on applying to this school b/c I was banking on getting into other schools. But my chances look grim at the other place so I am thinking about applying elsewhere.

Most likely about 40% of the class will be filled by the time your app reached OSU. However they do love to waitlist so they are slow to fill the entire class. OSU is not oos friendly though

Go for it, you'd be a fool not to. However, you will be a a large disadvantage especially if you're out of state.

There is still hope Friday is another day maybe our files are sitting on Dr. Stewart's desk waiting patiently! Good luck to you! I think it is awesome that Dr. Stewart calls accepted students individually it really says good things about OSU and the family like qualities of the school.

I agree...hold tight. I just find it hard to believe she could make all the calls after being involved in a day of interviews. I think it is quite clear that she does not start making calls until after 3:00.

On a side note, the number I saved in my phone was not the number Dr. Stewart called from.

Is anybody thinking about taking this class in the summer? Seems like it would be something good for incoming students who have been out of school for a little bit.

It might help a few, but our two student ambassadors on my day both said if you have a decent background, take the summer off and enjoy it because it will be your last until you finish residency. I will probably follow their advice.

I have already had histology, anatomy, anatomy t/a, neurophysiology (which included quite abit of anatomy), and will take human dissection/prosection course next semester. I'll have to check into it. If we take it, after the tests we will have to blow off steam on 18 holes. Is there information about it on their website? I saw it on the curriculum page but no specifics or description about the class.

I could not find any additional information on the course or whether it was actually for any credit (it didn’t look like it). Considering your background, it sounds like you may not benefit as much as someone like me who has been out of undergrad for a couple of years. I mean the classes I have taken within the last year and a half are epidemiology, biostatistics, health care financing, health economics, etc., public health stuff. I of course had a strong background in all the advanced bio type courses in undergrad, but it was a couple years ago, so a little refresher for me might be nice. I will be doing it on my own regardless. Studying for the MCAT was a bit of a refresher though.

Like you said, we need to play 18 after the tests, if we take it. I have the hook up at a really nice course in broken arrow (Emerald Falls), FREE, it will eat your lunch from the tips though. Clary fields is decent too.

My hat's off to you. I've recently become very interested in pursuing an MPH or at least a graduate certificate in public health... eventually.

No MPH for me, Ill have had 20 years of formal education by the time I'm a resident and then 4 - 6 additional years of on the job education. 25 years of schooling is a 3rd of the average lifetime which is plenty for me...

Thank you. It was a rewarding educational experience and provided a valuable perspective. I think it is worth it, but others don't. Either way, I am only 25 so it didn't take too many practice years away.

Does OSU give any kind of feedback about your interview or application? I know they give advice on how to enhance your application, but do they give you any information about what may have went wrong? 😕

They also said that it is both rewarding and valuable to their future practice as physicians. They actually had nothing bad to say about it at all. That's what sparked my interest.

Yes, I work at the state health department. I perform program evaluations on several federal grants focusing on physcial activty levels and dietary habits of Oklahoman's. I do some consulting on other chronic disease prevention projects focusing on diabetes, asthma, etc.. It is a good gig, but I love medicine, it has always been what I want.

I think my problem is more over senioritis if anything, I love going to school (insert foot in mouth here) and learning things that I am interested in. However lately I have had trouble retaining focus as I am starting to feel the burn. I know that once I set foot in OSU though that things will remarkably improve. But the thought of more education ontop of what is already on my plate makes me want to puke...

I understand since I too felt that way once. But, after about 11 years of the daily grind I realized that school's really not so bad after all.
