-2011-2008 Match lists for many osteopathic schools
- comparison of match results between schools
-GPA/MCAT scores, a profiles of average matriculating students compared between all Osteopathic schools,
-COMLEX scores for some schools
- You'll also find comparison of tuition / graduate indebtedness between schools

Accepted!!!!!!! I got the call today! I interviewed on Jan. 20th and was waitlisted on Jan. 27th. I interviewed for the Bridge Program last year, but I improved my MCAT so I could apply to the traditional program as well this cycle. I have a 14 month old son and a 7 week old daughter. I'm still taking post graduate classes to help prepare me and working. I'm pretty proud of myself! If you want something bad enough, NOTHING can stop you!!! Good luck to all!!!

Well this gives me some hope.. i interviewed on the 27th got waitlisted on around the 1st of feb and still haven't heard anything...praying i get that phone call sometime soon!! Congrats by the way!!!

Thanks you all. I had an awesome interview, so I know that helped. My whole application is strong, but my MCAT is lower. I am a re-applicant and showed significant improvement in several areas. I also followed up with thank you notes after my interview. That couldn't have hurt. I now they keep those in your file. I also had just called a week before to make sure they had all my up-to-date transcripts and that they had it in my file that I'm taking an Advanced Human Anatomy course (with cadaver dissection). Definitely follow up with documents received with Sarah. Don't assume.

Auhtum, I remember you telling me your MCAT score because ours are the same! Good luck! Don't forget the thank you notes immediately afterward, and be passionate, clear, concise, and make your interviewers feel like they connect with you. If they can relate to you or vice versa, they'll be able to imagine you connecting with your patients. I pray you get matched with a good pair of interviewers. You're a very nice, warm person. You should have no problem 😉

Well, my MCAT was only a 22, gpa 3.8, science gpa 3.9, I only applied at OSU, reapplicant, 200+ hrs of shadowing, clinical experience at a chiropractic office & as a habilitation training specialist with disabled individuals, lots of volunteering/organizations/community involvement, strong letters of recommendation, I've taken 7 upper division science courses post undergraduate, and I'm currently taking my 8th (Advanced Human Anatomy with a cadaver lab)

Are you on the broken arrow campus tomorrow? If so, would you consider letting me borrow your copy? I have Immuno lab at 3-4:45pm and Biochem at 5-6:40. I can be there earlier or later if any of this works for you 🙂 I am not having any luck locating it in town. My interview is Thursday morning and I would love spending tomorrow evening reading the book.

I have a question for any current OSU students on here. I'm trying to make a decision between OSU and a few other schools right now. A big concern of mine in deciding is the amount of real patient contact experience that the students are exposed to during their first and second years to prepare for third and fourth year rotations. Obviously most schools have simulation dummies and mock scenarios with acting patients, etc., but I know of many schools that allow their first and second year students to spend quite a bit of time in the school hospital working with doctors and patients, receiving excellent preparation for future clinical rotation years. I realize that OSU has its own Medical Center and am curious to know more about it from those who have been there. Is it just a large clinic or an actual hospital? Also, I would like any info about how involved the first and second year students are there or at any other hospital/clinic, if at all. Thanks!

OSU Med Center is a fully staffed urban hospital. It is the "public" hospital of Tulsa, so it gets quite a bit of business. I spent a couple of days there as a patient last week, myself. It's not a clinic calling itself a hospital.

As a first year student, with the exception of OMM, we are not required to do rotations and touch patients in the hospital, but the DO training has us doing a lot of touching and treating of each other. The OMM class requires us to attend and treat patients in the OMM noon clinic beginning the first semester. In addition, clinical skills are taught in the second semester.

That is the "requirements" almost all of the students find extracurricular clinical rotations to do on breaks. Along with OU we also can volunteer at the "bedlam" free clinic. Weekend trips to do rural medicine are strongly encouraged. All you have to do is sign the sheet and show up. It is easy to find clinical experience. In some schools, the clinical extra-curricular activities are filled up with eager students and you don't have opportunity to participate. That is not even slightly true at OSU.

True, but last I checked they are $75+ and out of print. I'm looking for a more affordable option. 🙂

I got my copy from a student who got it from the school. They actually give all applicants a copy at their interview. How'd your interview go, Auhtum? I'll bet you have the book now! Sorry I couldn't help more. I didn't know the book is so hard to find 🙁

Was the bridge interview similar to the traditional interview?

They were very similar in structure with a lot of the same questions. You definitely want to think of why you're a good fit for the Bridge Program. You're starting off with a decreased course load but required to make an 85% or higher in the classes... I got matched with interviewers that were better suited for my own interests and background when I interviewed this year for the traditional program. That was a coincidence but made a huge difference I think. I also probably figured out that everyone I talked to that got in (unless they had an upstanding MCAT) had a great interview and felt like they connected with their interviewers.

Correction, I don't think I actually read the first 2 sentences. We were tested on it in the first OMM block, but I had other priorities.

I genuinely only want to be a DO (and so I will). I felt empowered by reading the history and true meaning of being a DO. If you're just trying to get into med school and don't have a preference of allopathic or osteopathic, if you prefer allopathic, or if you don't know the difference, you should most certainly read this book. There is nothing wrong with making a little cash, but I will give someone the book for FREE because I believe in what it represents and think everyone considering Osteopathic Medicine should read it.
