Thanks bob. You're the best! I should read the fine print better. That is what I get for doing my taxes and fafsa at 10 pm

🙂 When you said 10 PM, I thought I still had some time until I had to go to bed, but I realized you're an hour behind so it's more like 11 here. I should be sleeping soon.

Are me and SHC the only ones on Eastern time? Sheesh... At least we get to watch the ball drop in Times Square live 😛.

I know that at least for undergrad and grad school... If you're under 24 and make under a certain income you have to file as a dependent still. Boo

For my fellow WAGS employees, did they mail you your W-2, or did you have to pick it up in person? I know the mail was thrown off a bit with the weather this weekend, but I still don't have it.

Of course, I haven't worked in like a month. 😱

It's 1:30 AM, I just took a half hour nap to clear my head and now ready for the next couple hours of study. Lord have mercy on me, naturally organic chemistry is fun but advanced organic chemistry at this hour is nothing but painful.

I'm in the EST zone.

Exam? Good luck:luck:

Ugh I cannot wait to get home and just chill on my couch this weekend
hahaha traveling is tiring eh?

So is anyone interested in photography? I am int he market for a dSLR.
taking pictures is cool, but it seems pretty difficult with lighting and getting just right angles. i give photographers a lot of credit for what they do... it sure isn't easy.
what exactly will you be taking pictures of?

I spend a lot of time with family so mostly photos of people. Also, I am very involved in the car import scene so cars for sure. I love going out in the town or museums etc.

Why don't you just get a 12+ mega pixel slim digital camera then? I mean think about it, with a 12 meg camera you'll already get crisp images, how much crisper do they need to be? dSLRs are BEASTS. Those things are sooo heaaaaavy! I knew someone in high school who had one and that thing weighed @ least 10 lbs (and she wore it around her neck) and had the flash thingy in her satchel. Plus if you have a dSLR you look like such a noob tourist taking pictures @ museums and stuff. lol maybe I'm just biased but if you're gonna be taking pics of people and sights I'd say swing 350 to upwards of 600 for a high quality slim digital versus forking over 1k + for a dSLR.

Megapixels don't tell you how good a camera is. a dSLR allows you to be creative with photos. If all I wanted to do was take pictures just to take pictures I would stick with my iPhone. I can appreciate a good photo and the style one uses. Also, they do not weigh 10 lbs nor does the one I am looking for costs 1K. I'm in the market for an entry level dSLR that'll cost me less than 600 bucks. lol I could care less what people think about me as I take pictures. As long as I am having fun and being creative they can think whatever they want.

Don't bash on the dSLRs lol.

All this talk about made me think dSLR's were some sort of special mercedes cars. I know they're cameras.

Megapixels tell you how good your pictures can be. The pictures matter a lot more, right?

Tonight, I learned something I had not known before;

1) that if you buy the thick style of pork chops, and you're intent on frying them... you have to select a moderate temperature. Or else, what you wind up with is burnt on the outside and raw in the middle.

2) that you cannot substitute vanilla soy milk for half-and-half in mashed potatoes.

3) my garbage disposal no longer works.

The crispness of an image doesn't come only from the mega pixel count. That's mostly a marketing ploy for the general public. It's a subjective number that doesn't play a major role in image quality.

If you go a slim digital cameras, you might end up sacrificing image fidelity and quality for convenience if you use cheap lenses. You'll end up with all kinds of distortions and noise. Of course, if you didn't know what to look for ... you wouldn't even know its there. Slim digital cameras also typically have smaller detectors/sensors than dSLRs along with less speed and options.

Personally, if you want nice pictures, decent options, good quality lenses without the bulk of a dSLR ... I'd recommend taking a look at the Canon S90. It looks like you want to use it for your photo enthusiast hobbies along with family/personal activities. It's an excellent camera with a range of selectable shutter speeds (15 sec to 1/1600 sec) and ISOs (80 to 3200). It also has several aperature values. It's a bit slower than a dSLR but a lot smaller and convenient. The Canon G11 is also pretty kick ass.

If you have a thick cut of pork chops, you can first fry then finish it off by baking it in an oven. Just don't burn it. Another method you can try... if you have a cast iron skillet 🙂biglove: my cast iron), is to quickly sear both sides of the pork chops then stick the entire skillet in the oven to bake.

not necessarily, Canons are very very good with speed.

Anything Canon has an 👍 in my book.

Thank you! I'm a little nervous because it's my first interview and I really like Mercer a lot, but I have time to prepare. I already have a business suit and family in Atlanta I can visit or stay with so I just need to book a flight and mentally prepare myself.

CONGRATS!! 🙂 Good job 🙂 Be sure to tell us all about it.

I found flights on Student Universe for $140 round trip Miami-Atlanta. 😍

I have to return early Saturday morning because I have an in person midterm Saturday afternoon for an online class I am taking, but it's perfect because I will have tons of time to study while traveling.

It sounds lame to be studying while traveling, but you do what you have to do.

The solution for that is sleeping, I hear.

Few times during the day, I dozed off a little and that's when I really wanted to sleep. But after waking back up, I'm more alert and don't feel sleepy for a while. I know I'll probably sleep early tonight.

Thanks! Yeah student universe is pretty cool, but plane tickets have kind of gotten cheaper in general so you don't get as big of a deal as you used to back in like 2006.

Well it's for an interview so I might as well study when I'm on the plane or at the hotel... I have an exam exactly 24 hours after the interview, but the flight is 2 hours so that should be a good review time. I want to go out to eat and stuff a little the day before though if I can get a ride somewhere because I really love that city.

You might meet up with SHC if she isn't too busy

She has class right before the interview and then goes to IPPE so she's most likely busy... LOL I'm going to try and find the school and maybe look around the surrounding area the day before though so I don't get lost! I haven't been to Atlanta since high school when my dad lived in GA.

No, but I would like to watch it.

Hulu ftw?

There was an interesting segment on army recruiting. Apparently in California they have stations set up where kids under 17 can go and play all kind of army simulations and video games for free. It is their way of recruiting children without actually recruiting them since it is illegal to do with children under 17.

lol, AA/America's Army is still going on? They've been doing that for a good 10+ years now.
