Rawrrr I wanted dibs on the new page! LOL

I am totally procrastinating... I have to write a 4-5 page paper on Market Based Management... I'm so bad at starting papers... I guess this is good for forcing me to do well at something I'm not used to though. I love reading science texts and making outlines to study. Starting a paper... not so much.

I'm the same way.

My test today got moved to Friday. That just makes my Friday even busier

Yay for papers. 👍

Only if you get to write about something interesting. A lot of the papers I've had to write in undergrad were lab reports, so those were fine.

Others were kinda boring and it was hard to start writing them. Even when I did, it made a lot of sense to me, but I guess it wasn't so clear to my teachers  One of my teachers said that I did a good job of analyzing passages and stuff in class, but I didn't show all of that in my paper. I was also sitting next to a pretty girl, so I think I might have been trying to show off  But really, I tried to think very hard about stories we've read to at least contribute to the discussion.

I worked a double shift today... I am becoming Super Tech. I'm cheaper than the more senior technician and don't bitch about working long hours.

But I can bitch to my friends at SDN.

Damn these days are looooooooong.

13 hours of, "My copay was $2.33 last month, this month it's $2.99, what gives?"
:scared:

"Can't you call them and see what's wrong, I mean that's just ridiculous!"

Papers. If I had known how few papers I'd have to write as an MCB or Chemistry major, I'd have switched back in 2003.

Hehe, in all honesty it's all compensated by lab reports and the higher you go, the more intense lab reports become - for my biochemistry lab for example, our experiments lasted 2-3 weeks each, and each report was 60 to easily a 100 pages. Pchem lab reports or those reports for 500-600 level classes where there are like 5-6 people per lab, I don't even want to think about. :scared:

I'm OK with lab reports, summaries, data analyses, the works.

It all beats the hell out of subjectively graded humanities crap.

I had one call and inquire as to why their suppository was so painful and why it wasn't working...they left the foil wrapper on.:uhno:

UGh I wish I could go back to the undergrad days of nothing but upper level biology classes that were intriguingly interesting... no papers... 2-3 exams per semester...

Master's level business papers due multiple times per week are not quite as intriguing.

one day working at the pharmacy a woman called the pharmacy sounding very concerned and frantic. she asked me "Does Tylenol cause the chickenpox?"....she was dead serious. sometimes people amuse me.

I've heard of one pharmacist forgetting to tell a patient to take off the foil wrapper.

You can actually be held liable for that to a certain extent if it is not clearly indicated on the packaging.

I make a point to very clearly indicate the route of administration on everything I dispense.

Most of my coworkers dispense things like "1 Tablet Daily." Mine will always say "Take 1 Tablet By Mouth Daily"

Maybe I'm anal

It is better to be anal than be responsible for putting somebody in the ER.

Good job.

They teach us to write that on the labels for ceutics lab. The pharmacist who grades us is strict about everything too.

That's a lot of tiotropium.

No kidding...landed him in the ER, too.

I have lots of stories, though.

Bob, can you believe there was once a patient on 250mg qd clomipramine, 3mg risperidone BID, and buproprion XL 300mg BID and they were STILL conscious?

EDIT: conscious as in still screaming at the nurses

Two antidepressants and an antipsychotic?

Isn't 300 mg BID a bit much for bupropion?

Can anyone explain to me why Anatomy and Physiology is considered a "beastly" class? I've just finished my fourth quiz tonight and I'm sitting at a 102%..... why does everyone claim it's some kind of flame breathing fire dragon who eats you up in his nostrils, chews on your like gum, spews you out AND then ****s on you??

Misread - I didn't see her say it was XL... in that case, 300mg BID is not out of the realm of possibility, since there are 300mg tabs of XL, and overdoses of 30g have been reported (30,000mg... wow)

Oh yes...I questioned the dose too and I looked it up because I was like WTF? Dose was verified with MD that patient was taking these at home. I think they added a benzo later on PRN. Paranoid schizophrenic...

So it looks like I have another snow day tomorrow. I'm gonna go crazy if I have to stay at home all day again because of the snow

It was a hard course for me which was made harder by a boring professor. Had to remember the smallest details. Lots of situational questions; for example "A boy is at a baseball game and isn't paying attention. He gets hit in the back of the head with a baseball. Which of these functions would be most affected by this injury?" Followed by like 6 choices which had those stupid A and B: A and C type answers.

HATED IT!

The pharmacists I work with are very strict. Everything has to be exact.

If I put "1 Tablet Daily" I'd get a telling off about it for sure.

It has made me very careful about everything. I hate getting things sent back to get changed.

Even if nothing bad happens, you have to think about the audits. AUDITS!

Killing me here too! Interview this past weekend got rescheduled because of it. Not more snow tomorrow and Wednesday. The snow again Sat-Mon! ARG!

A&P was cake!

Paranoid schizophrenics usually get a healthy shot of Seroquel too.

Yep- or an IM zyprexa...i dont even know why they bothered with the benzo...just shoot em up with a little zyprexa and hope it knocks em out.

although, there was one lady who was getting it like TID which is the max dose I think and she was still awake.

It was a hard course for me because it was a 600 level course for me. Plus, if you take it upper division it's actually broken into 3 different classes:

- anatomy with lab - 4 units, lab twice a week, three hours of lecture per week
physiology lecture - three hours of lecture per week
physiology lab - twice a week for 4 hours

Upper division classes is a lot more biochemical and pathway oriented vs. lower level classes where you just kind of learn facts.

For physiology lab alone, besides regular experiments, we had to do an independent research project - a month and a half in length, come up with our own study design, write a proposal, find 25 healthy and willing volunteers, manage to find time for data collection, analysis of data which took several weeks alone, write a final paper which was what seemed like an infinite number of pages in length and then make two presentations - one in class, one in a research forum showcase.

It's just an entire different level of learning.

So did the medication actually work or did her renal clearance or her liver reject everything?

Oh no, I'm not talking about 600 level at all.... man that'd be killer. I completely understand why that'd be difficult. At my school it's offered in two 200 level succession courses- 201 & 202. The labs are combined w/ the class. It's by no means on par with what you're describing.

What did you end up pulling in that class?

You know, sadly, that's EXACTLY how my teacher words her questions. They're all situational based, mixed with reasoning/why something happens cause/effect make you think type. They're not your atypical straight forward "Google"able type ones like oh idk, what is the epithelial tissue's function?

They're worded so weirdly and far more in depth than necessary for the people taking the class (nursing students... so it's in one ear and out the other). I'd hate being a teacher at my school.

omgosh I remember doing something like that as a spin off from my Physiological Systems class except my projects (2) lasted a semester each. I'm looking at my old papers up now. Ahhh it brings back fond memories 😍 Fun!

What was your study on Cheb?

A&P wasn't hard... but I agree that the series Chebs is talking about was a beast... at my undergrad we didn't have A&P at all... it was comparative physiology and human anatomy as two separate classes. I couldn't get into anatomy because it was a medical student level class, or a nursing degree requirement and I was listed under Arts and Sciences. There were only 2 cadavers and not enough spaces for me to get an override. I ended up taking A&P at my local 4 year city college and got an A+. Of course a lot of people complained about the amount of material covered so there was extra credit, etc which explains why people who actually study get over 100%. I'm sure some people had rough A&P classes which is why there is such a disparity amoung people who think it's cake versus those who had rigorous professors... which is actually good because it prepares you for the PCAT and upper level courses.

You're almost at 1000 posts

A&P really depends on your school and your instructor(s).

It gives me some perspective when my wife still has a 3.91 with a transcript full of Philosophy and English, LOL.

I have never tried so hard in one single course as I did in World Religion honors. For the life of me I could not get that professor to give me anything more than a B+ on all my papers. It was like a tease or something... never a flat out A... just B+ straight across the board. 🙁
