I am currently in the process of putting together my OTCAS application for the 2024 admissions cycle. I have worked as a patient care technician for a year now, this includes working side by side with occupational therapist daily. I do not have any “observation hours” as I haven’t had the time to shadow due to my work schedule. Most places I’m applying allow work experience as a prerequisite instead of observation hours. Would not having documented observations hours affect me if I have my healthcare experience listed?

Hi there! I would try to squeeze in at least 40 observation hours (even with the OT in the office) and then talk about working alongside an OT for a year! good luck!!
