Hello everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with Summer Scholars at OUCOM.
NoSo the contract is fulfilled with an AOA approved residency in the state of Ohio, but what about an allopathic residency? What if I find myself interested in pathology or some other residency not available in an AOA residency? Does an allopathic residency in the state of Ohio count as well?
I was hoping maybe DORoe or Shinken could chime in and let us know which books we should consider buying off the booklist and which ones are a waste of money. Thanks guys!
Damn, my options are limited. I don't want to be in Ohio forever.
Here are the books that I could not live without during years 1-2I was hoping maybe DORoe or Shinken could chime in and let us know which books we should consider buying off the booklist and which ones are a waste of money. Thanks guys!
Hello everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with Summer Scholars at OUCOM.
Looks like I'll most likely be attending OUCOM this fall! I'm excited to move on. For people that are currently attending OUCOM, I've got some additional questions:
1. Can you do any elective rotations out of state?
2. Does anyone have the match list for the last three years (i've got up to 2005)?
3. Renting: Should I rent an apartment, rent a house, or buy a mobile home?
I've also got a wife and kid to support, and what the financial aid office has indicated, won't get additional financial aid to help cover expenses for the first year (I've made too much money in 2007). Does anyone have any tips for renting with a family and getting insurance?
Thanks guys!
1. You are allowed to do up to 8 total weeks out of state for credit. after that you must take vacation time to do these types of rotations.
2. Sorry, maybe you could contact the admissions office and they might have it
3. This is totally up to you. I bought a mobile home when I was there. I paid a total of 200/month for lot rental (yes i lived in a trailor park) and the payment on the mobile home. It worked very well for me. There are some decent apartments that some of my classmates lived in. These could get rather pricey. Houses can be a bit dicey. It is a college town and most houses for rent that I saw were rather run down, but you may find something outside of Athens itself which would work better.
I don't have experience *yet*. I just got accepted into this summer's program. I am very excited. Have you applied or are you thinking about applying for next summer?
I'm looking for the same information as Punchap please.
